Got another blade to try on the mitre saw. The 24 tooth one supplied with it gives more tear-out on the back edge than I want, so ordered a 40 tooth Sabrecut blade to try. I've been quite impressed with the quality of any other type of blade I've had of theirs. Runs true, nice cut etc. Can't fault it. An added bonus is, (with this being a 210mm blade rather than a 216mm, as came with the saw), the laser guide is actually on the cut line now. It was out by a mm or two before. This is the one I ordered.

Talking of blades , I've been trying to cut about 25 feet ( 48 x 4inch lengths out of 9 inch rounds of scrap ) 30 mm thick Delrin on the bench saw this afternoon . Aim was to do three or four as prototypes this afternoon and settle on what worked best .
I'm making the inserts to fit in the square rungs of a ladder racking system I'm using for Alison's Bonsai staging display . center drilling one end and slitting the drilled end back a couple of inches in a + pair of cuts so when I run an 8 mm dia decking screw in the slots it expands the plug and allows me to fix a front lip on the ladder rack ends fronts & rears to stop plants getting blown off them at a couple of hundred of £'s damage a pop , includes the hand made special ceramic pots as well as the plant .

I could have cut it quicker with a used wooden lollipop stick I'm sure ..it was slow and hard going , ( not what I expected on a reasonably new rip blade ) with me slowly feeding it in .

I stopped the saw , got a magnifying glass & had a look at the grind and set ... hmmmm ...interesting ...... several of the brazed in teeth are in the wrong sequence of cut . either they've been installed incorrectly or they have been Chinese ground , there is little or no set on the teeth and the set that is viewable is LLLL R, LLRRl, etc , there's no set sequence to them , not just in one area of the blade but over the whole circumference . I aquired a couple of spare new unused blades a few days ago for it , so tomorrow if they look better I'll change it out.
Had to press on with the bad blade as I'm cleaning things up in the lathe's four jaw chuck for a precise fit as well as using the router bench to put radius on the edges on all four long edges .

I bought a set for about £10 from Europarts. Getting them into position is right faff, but they work very well.

I've got a diddy 75 mm pair of Mole Grip type plier grips ( set of three different sizes , off eBay years ago as ). So in most cases so far it's a doodle to squeeze the clip open , slip it over the pipe. slide the pipe on and release the pliers.

My Dad, long since retired from farming decided during lockdown he wanted to breed chickens, encouraged by my BIL. He had pairs of Light Sussex, Speckled Sussex & Silver laced Wyandotte. He had a bad run which produced mostly cocks, then lockdown finished, nobody wanted chickens anymore & he was left with a load of fowl! The hens were kept for laying, a pine marten killed a few & we had 7 extra roosters left. Our neighbour across the field breeds game fowl so you can imagine the racket just before dawn when the roosters start calling each other!

A few months ago he decided the cost of feeding them was too much, tried to give them away for free but no takers. Neither me or my dad could bring ourselves to dispatch them so the BIL got the task!

There are only 3 roosters now so the dawn chorus is a lot quieter!

Make their overnight coop roof low roofed so the sods cannot stand on the perches stretch their neck & body to crow .

Got a Fakita 14.4V LXT battery and adapter recently and finally got around tuit.
The 14.4V adapter is gone from the shelves, so an 18V one can be made to fit by the simple expedient of sawing off part of the front ledge.
The Fakita battery arrived with no charge in it - not sure whether that was for safety reasons or just old stock, but it responded well to a gradual charge from my HobbyKing charger and the OEM charger then accepted it willingly.
The final result is quite OK and certainly spins much more eagerly than the old batteries.

Definately bit nippy ! Drizzled a bit but otherwise just muddy. I'm up in Bridlington so bit of a trek. Not sure I'd bother again unless I was down there for something else.

I certainly did ! Got back 7th Feb. Still getting sorted out with everything, going to set up doing motorbikes again. Unfortunately my tools and bike etc don't arrive until (hopefully ?) 20th June so not a lot I can do at the moment although I've just got a car trailer and going to make a start sorting the garage out..

Oh man, I feel your pain. I broke three when I fell off a ladder landing on the corner of a breezeblock under my armpit last year. Had to sit and sleep upright in a chair for nearly two months, wasting my life away spending time on Forums, lol. It will get better, but you have to restrain yourself from thinking you'll be back to working as normal in just a few weeks; its going to take time. Don't laugh, ( it hurts like hell ) but last October my Niece's daughter made me a T-shirt for Halloween, the little ****.
