I bought that saws Grandad last week, an old Dewalt/B&D radial arm saw. Not sure what vintage but it's painted green rather than the modern Dewalt yellow. Going to pick it up this week, will post some pics.

Yes the old dewalt were a light green the brand was extinct but resurrected by B&D as a high end range to their tools, old dewalt were very good like old b&d, just have your wits about you and dont act stupid around them, enough radial arm saw incidents Ive seen in my time to know you have to keep focused

As a kid I used to watch those compactors in amazement, it took me ages to work out how they worked.

I have a Powershop(?) 1251 b&d radial arm saw in that green colour. (1970s-1990s)
Most parts interchangeable with the modern dw models.
Be warned, the spindle is 16mm, not 5/8 so the USA stuff (like dado heads) need reaming out.
The original dw green USA saws (1930s - 1960s) have a cast iron Base rather than the folded sheet.

Finally had time to have a bit of a poke at it. Wired a 13A plug onto it as a temporary job to see if it'd power up at all. Power switch lights up, fan comes on, no fuses/breakers pop immediately
Just have to talk nicely to the BIL to see if I can borrow a torch, some gas & a bit of wire to try anything more conclusive.
So far I think my £20 is a reasonably safe bet...

Some times you see something from your past, your child hood. So you have to say I will have them.
Blue Every Ready torch, nothing special to most, but to me it has fond memory of my first job. Working in a Mushroom farm, in a old quarry.
Ever Ready Space Beam.
When I was knee high to a grasshopper, my Dad had one.
I bean seeking one for a long time. But never found one.
Today I found them both.
Both not working, but an hour of my time, new battery and coffee and both work.
Happy memories.

Ah but what colour water are you gonna use ? I've seen rows of them at some shows and the only difference was the colour of water each was pumping... blue, green, red, etc etc

One it was not 5 minuets, it was more like 15. I voted, she went to vote and met with a friend and "talking" took place.
I needed to leave to voting station, it was raining, I took shelter. In a shop.
I had a nice coffee and collected some memories, a small project. To teach restoration and blade sharpening at Men in Shed.
Plus some 1/4" UNC bolts to help repair a friends Oak chair set. I hoped they were going to be M6. No, she had to be difficult and have Canadian chairs.
The memories, is the car lamp, My Grandfather had one.
The restoration is the Stanley Plane.
I let you work out rest.

Pleased for you mpats, I'm sure you won't be disappointed with it, get a couple of blades at different tpi, (always keep a spare, they break at the most inconvenient times).

Yes, and the square batteries used to leak in time and the resulting corrosion would eat its way through the lamp body.
