Brilliant Clive many thanks for your research . I looked at Portuguese trees but couldn't find it , the cork was removed from the log leaving a slightly gnarly bark , I removed the gnarly bit to get the walnut effect cambium layer .

There is lots of it on the villa estate . Whilst traveling in the hire car we came across no end of 1 mtr or more diameter cork oaks stripped of bark from 400 mm up to 2.4 mtrs

It's gorgeous!

I melted the 13A plug maybe that has something to do with it

Close on 200 finials,the plainer ones need some deeper necking on the power hammer.

Thanks to some of the advice on here, got some very nice lengths of EN8 from ebay.
20Kg for £25 delivered, Most is round 100-110mm long and 45mm dia

£15 from amazon and looks nicely made. Much better value than the now £40+ Teng set without any sockets.

Life savers these little bit holders and the 8mm ring has got me out of bother a few times aswell.

I'm finding the 5D MkII is more than adequate for my needs. I just don't need much more in terms of Mp. That and the Nikon D600 will keep me happy for a while, until the prices of 5DS come down. The collection of legacy glass probably won't show itself to any advantage even at that, anyway.
Although I did give into temptation recently and bought into m4/3, and I'm wondering if it was worth it.
