I know several people who use them, seem to be a central machine in professional shops to me. A guy I know just renovated an old L'invincible from literal scrap, with literal scrap parts to good as new condition for his upcoming woodworking business.

Only a few miles away too!Shooting them in the b*ll*x would be too good for them, I can never understand the mentality of smashing up good machines for scrap.
Where my brother works they scrapped a load of pillar drills, slip rolls etc they just gas axed them in half and filled a skip with them. I told them I was happy to come in and remove them when the factory was closed at weekend and I'd pay them for the privilege but they weren’t interested.

Long story short: the saw blade, rather than being 4mm thick high carbon steel, is a lamination of two 2mm thick pieces -
which delaminated when I cut out the blade shape
On the up side, I have enough raw material to make about 200 marking knives and cabinet scrapers.

Shelves. Two sets, $15 each. Good to get things off the floor.
.Today I embraced my inner Aardvark and went carbooting. Had a lovely rummage. Avoided the tool dealers and went rummaging amongst the boxes of rusty tat for sale by the general public. Here is my haul less a pair of ear defenders that I also picked up.
First off, Moore and Wright Surface Gauge 405. The seller asked me what it was used for, wouldn't take less than six quid 'cos it had box and instructions, I tried offering five, no joy. Fair enough, came home with me...
Next off two coarse files, one flat, one half round. 50p for one and a pound for the other. Both Sheffield, one is by Stubbs and the other is a Tyzack. I think i paid 50p too much for one of them but I was just learning the game.
A taper drill negotiated down from a pound to 50p due to the rust. I know this will clean up lovely. Unused. Calipers say it is bob on 15mm. Will see what the markings say when its cleaned.
Snap on spanners 10mm, 12mm and 7/8" 50p each!!
Also bought a very worn 19mm Snap On socket a and a Snap On bit holder for 50p each. Again in amongst a load of absolutely rusty tat. The young lass looked embarrassed naming a price.
I also picked up a Bosch bi metal holesaw and arbour 52mm and a well used Starrett holesaw and arbour 56mm for 50p each. It seemed to be the default price for old tools that people want rid of. The set of the teeth seem very aggressive so they might be better for wood than metal.I managed to purchase the file handle from a tool dealer on the way out for 40p! Finally there is the metal punch. I picked this out of a box because they are handy to have and I do use them all the time. I wasn't buying it just for the name like I was with the Snap On stuff. Anyway I got it home and had a good look. It is L. S. Starrett.
Total cost £12.90.
I may be returning next week without the wife but with a pair of knee pads. I could have filled my haversack with odd Britool and King Dick spanners. There was a fair amount of metric stuff too, it wasn't all imperial. I lost count of the number of good quality 30mm spanners that I saw.
