I think you're right, it's bigger than I thought it was and it turns out its actually 4 pole too so a bit slow for your needs.

On Friday I have made:
4 trips to the recycling skips.
2 trips to the scrap yard.
1 trip to the wood recycling yard.
All to get rid of rubbish and stuff I do not need.
Each trip I came back with nothing, I know right. That's twice this year.
Friends, family and in laws were getting concerned, muttering and whispering that I was un well.
This was compounded by the fact I sank a few good beers and only had a 1 course curry.
Things were not looking good.
I was asked this morning by Mrs TYA;
"Are you ok, is there anything wrong?"
I left, one last scrap metal run.
I came home.
Guess what?

Today I acquired a UE Roll 2 (Bluetooth speaker) and a Sonos Play:1 (Wifi speaker).
I've got 2 Sonos's (Soni?) now so they're linked as a stereo pair in my room.
The UE is far more portable so I can easily take it out to the garage.

I acquired this Denford Viceroy short bed wood lathe last week, not bad money but needs a chuck. There's not many wood chucks with a 1-1/2" x 8 thread, I believe it's the same as a Boxford. A Sorby Patriot chuck is about £175 with standard jaws and the right thread, not many come up on ebay and none with the right thread but could possibly turn one up, they do sell blank adapter inserts or I could make it all myself.
I was hoping to pickup one with all the accessories but they always seemed to be in Cornwall or Scotland. No, rush, I only bought it 'cos it was cheap and local. It's just for turning up the odd short spindle, knobs and owt else wood and round when making furniture, I may even make the odd bowl if I feel like it.
It's ex school and single phase, probably had a motor swap as the motor is wired direct to the plug rather than via the contactor, I have the wiring diagram from the Denford forum and it can be wired single or 3 phase so will give that a go when I get time.

Is there a difference between a wood and a metal chuck? I happen to have a little Pratt Burnard metal chuck with a Boxford backplate...

Not a lot if you just holding a spindle. The posh ones have dovetail jaws to hold bowls, you first use a screw chuck then turn a small base with a bit of an angle on it so when you grab it in the chuck the bowl cant escape from the jaws even if the fibres get compressed.

It's off a Boxford BUD that was used for turning wood, I took it apart, deschmoo'd and regreased but didn't really use it much after that. I machined a camlock back plate to fit it but never got around to bolting it on, the only times I did use it was holding it in the 4 jaw chuck, just because I could

Sanity as returned.
The axe and Quarry mans hammer came a up a treat.
The hammer was re-shafted.
Old Sledge hammer shaft cut down and cleaned up.
But I found something else, it looked unloved.
It looked like no one was watching it.

On Friday, I picked up two boxes of "old tools" at a local 'roup' [auction to those 'darn saarf' ]. Look to be mostly wood-working stuff, saws/planes/hand drills/the odd chisel etc but they're still in the boot of the car.

Pulled three of these large shelf units out of a 20 yard skip (which I was supposed to be filling with concrete rubble anyway so they shouldn't even have been there). I had to use a hammer and chisel to cut off the steel rivets to get them all in my van.
These are going to come in very handy for me to use up a large dead space behind my lathe.

This week's car boot haul.
Six items for four quid on the first stall. I spent twenty minutes digging through boxes to find these bits. If I'd bought them individually as I found them I reckon that I might have got them a bit cheaper. I had invested a bit too much time and effort at the stall so the seller knew I was keen by the time I settled up. There's a cheap 22mm socket that I've bought for a mate. His son has just got his first motorbike and he needs one for adjusting the nut on the rear wheel. The Facom ratchet spanner is for him too. It is 22mm one end and 24mm the other. Needs little bit of derusting but the ratchets work. I've never owned one like that, I'm half tempted to keep it.
For me, there's a round file and a no name caliper. I also picked up the 14mm MAC tools spanner as they are supposed to be a quality make, a bit like Snap On but maybe less so. It's American made and I was curious as to whether they are any good. The trouble is that the spanner is pretty battered at both ends so it's not a very good example to form an opinion over. Think I got blinded by the brand name rather than looking at the actual item quality. Finally, there is a Britool 24mm spanner. My full spanner set only goes up to 22mm so I'm trying to pick up some quality individual larger sizes as I go along. Needs a rub down but otherwise OK.
I spotted this drill guide on a stall. I have been after one for a while but I'm not sure if they are any good or just a gimmick. I hope it might stop me from occasionally drilling freehand on the p.... Er, I mean slant . I actually had one saved in my watch list on Ebay. Axminster Tools sell them for eighteen quid plus three quid postage. The old seller told me some guff about his brother retiring from joinery due to ill health and selling his tools so I gave him the fiver he asked for. Still, it's a 75% reduction on what I nearly paid on Ebay so I can't complain.
Another stall. Sykes Pickavant panel beating hammer 50p. Model number SP563 stamped on it. It's not quite as grotty as the photo makes it look. I'll be gentle trying to clean this up. Hand wire brush I think. The handle should improve a lot with a clean.
Two Tecalemit grease guns and a file handle. I found one plus the file handle and asked the seller how much? "50p" was the reply. Couldn't give him 50p fast enough. Once I knew he was charging so little I went over the stall with a fine tooth comb and found the second grease gun. It's missing the bit off the end but still worth 50p I think.
The final stall where I bought stuff was obviously a house clearance. Lots of varied household stuff in boxes, 98% of it was fit for the bin. If you were of the criminal persuasion you would have left it dumped in a layby. I had a good dig through, found an unused Rohm chuck and key in a bag. It's a bit tarnished due to age, the "Made in West Germany" gives it away. Not sure I have a use for this, but they are good quality I think. I put it down once then picked it again up and queried the price just in case it was cheap.

It went into the bag and then I had a good rake through the rest of the stall once I knew the price expectation of the stall holder.
Moore and Wright Thread gauge, Model 808, in a little bag in a tool box. Whitworth and Unified threads. I grabbed it as soon as I saw the name, I also picked up the dividers and asked the stall holder how much? He came over and looked at the dividers and said " There's another one in the bottom of the box". I had already seen them and I didn't really want another set of outside calipers but I picked them up anyway to be polite. I looked at the seller for the price of the three items and he said, "Quid?".

I found the scrap bit of flat bar on a final hunt round the same stall and gave the seller a further 50p, odd little bits like this are handy to have.
I have had a better look now that I have got home. The outside calipers are King Dick. The dividers are Moore and Wright. Bonus.
