Today I acquired...........

I have loads of odd sized boxes and stuff in bags etc etc so I’m planning to organise stuff and label them. Didn’t want to go mad so see how I get on with these

Biggest advantage for me is my drill boxes. 2 medium boxes stay permanently stacked. All my drills, drill bits chargers etc are always to hand and room for squares and hammers and all the other bits needed regularly are always close to hand. That and the fact tools fit easily without struggling to force lids down and tuck cables in.

Tool hire is for tools that are slightly larger than you actually need or can safely use

Aye but like my Wacker plate, mixer and scaffolding they live in the shed 90% of the time unused.
Had 6 months taking small jobs on. Next year I'm gonna man up and start taking on some bigger renovations/extensions so sure they will see more use. Played it safe and learnt some important lessons. See too many people jump straight in when they start a business and cock up.

5 sheets of 8'x4' 3/4" plywood. It has been used as a fence somewhere as one side of each sheet is painted. It was an expensive fence as it is good quality hardwood veneered ply.

Not sure what I'll use it for but at £65 I couldn't pass on this bargain!

I was asked if I had any old wood chisels. I did not, the ones I had had already bean restored or junked.

So I went out, alone. First shop, one of the best, has bean closed down. Second one had some stuff, but was asking daft money.

So homeward bound to one last place.

I was after wood chisels, nowt else.

A small very fine oil stone more dirty than worn.



Two old adjustable spanners, both rusty and worn. One is stamped British made, the other is stamped Jaguar. Both will be cleaned up, my friend has expressed an interest for his collection.



One decent mortise gauge and an adjustable thing.
Can any one shed some light on it?

Now some nice stuff.



A kerosene blow torch. What has me interested is the pressure pump is built into the handle.
I can see some stampings on it, but until I clean it up I can not make anything out.

Finaly.
100 years old, world war 1 trench art. It is mucky and it stinks.
I can make out a date of 1917 and some other marks.
But it is now sealed in a bag, yes the smell is that bad.

The get the pump body off I had to use a old towel drenched in hot water. To many solder joints to risk an open flame.






Striped, cleaned, polished.
Plus another oddity, a wick tube, with wicks. Yes it was still wet and smelled like "Avgas"





Finished.
To keep it shiny I will rattle can lacquer. I know some will say I shouldn't. But I will be putting on display.
Oh yes it also holds pressure.

Over 100 Morse Taper drills.

(Plus a few reduced shank and straight drills too).

99% Imperial sizes but all great makes and in good nick. They were looked after well by the previous owner. I haven't found one that needs a regrind yet. That box is full of mainly Presto and Dormer plus a few Cleveland and Osborn. There's quite a few duplicates of course. I have probably cornered the market for 5/8" taper drills.

Paid £100 which is quite a sum but I look at it as getting big Presto and Dormer Taper drills for less than a quid each. Will have fun going through the sizes and cataloguing them later in the week. I need to start planning a drill stand. This is my Xmas pressie.
