Sometimes I never learn.
Yesterday was a good example, it was a case of:
"OHHHH shinny and new"
I had a set of these before, got them over a year ago and gave them away as presents to a model building friend, as they needed to much work.
Yesterday I should of said NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
But I didn't.
This time the squares are good, but every plane blade needs re grinding and sharpening.
Do I ever learn?
Oh yes recycling sip run soon.

Just reminded me I have one here too and was thinking earlier how I was gonna get a clean cut on a piece of roofing sheet without resorting to the grinder again.
I'll investigate tomorrow as I haven't tried mine yet and it's been here for a couple of years.

I cut a sheet of 18swg in half with it this morning, works a treat so far, ended up with a quite large tightly wound spiral offcut which is so neat I might keep it just in case I need one sometime...

A bargain? I should think so, we used to use the Midtronics kit offshore for checking the UPS batteries. Brilliant kit, can even tell when there is a cell down.

I acquired this today, I am allowed to keep it.
I was sent it to try it out as a cheaper version of the battery tester we use to test fire alarm batteries.
I quote the manager
"I want to try this out, as ACT testers are too expensive"
That is BS approved tester, small portable and suitable for all out batteries.
But the manager ordered 6, to trail. Shame they are no good to us in the execution of our duties.
So al 6 have be "Wrote off" and we are allowed to keep them.

Thought it was oil cooled - seller clueless.
Bought unseen (but "working") for a tenner.
Apparently (according to the plate) it will weld 0.9mm/20swg sheet minimum and 9mm plate maximum.

Got a hymo lifting table will double up as a bike bench should have no trouble lifting any bike 1000kg swl better watch i dont lift the roof off
Might put it in a pit level with the floor
Sussed out the wiring 3ph motor for pump for uphill then 24 v dc to solenoid for lowering. big battery charger came in handy

This looks like it was never used just some light rust, It was a mates dads and he got it to do a sink trap and it stayed in a drawer he thinks from the 1960's..

Found on the local tip. Kerry drill 3/4" capacity 2mt spindle. The table was missing so I made one with box section, Its very accurate. The belt cover is the later square one With the use of back gear and inverter I can reduce speed to whatever I want. The motor is 900revs

Something's not right with that, you've got to do a turn before it engages. There shouldn't be that space on the front bit of the screw. Looks like it's been repainted, chances are it's not had the taper pin replaced to tension the screw again, it's an easy job and you can use a roll pin if the original is lost.
I've taken apart a number 2 before, it's fiddly dismantling them fully. There's another taper pin at the back of the base, knock this out first and the nut is dovetailed into the casting, you can use the screw (once unwound fully) to tap the dovetail out carefully if it is seized in place.

I am blaming one person for this lot.
I am. This time I am innocent.
If that one person had not asked me to be on the look out for a 32mm wide bevel edge chisel. I would have not spent time yesterday in a Motorcycle restoration place. Today not have bumbled in to a good second hand shop.
I would not of spent time with a nice young lady, rummaging in her drawers and her box of delights. Nor would I have got my hands wet and slippery handling her goods.
Sadly, no chisels.
Hammers screwdrivers, parts of planes, odd taps and dies. Odd spanners, small parallel hand vices etc.
But nowt to want to part with my cash. The scythe tempted me, but to much was the asking price.
But I left her happy and smiling.
Why?
Simple, I am putting together a vintage display of bicycle tools at Men in Sheds. Only because we have a glut of them.
More on that latter.
4 small bits to allow me so play time.
2 bubble sticks. They appear to be accurate.
Both need a clean, the wooden one needs a polish and oiling.
A small brass cannon, it looks like it can go bang, I will look into it. Not when it goes bang.
The wooden box, the dirty wooden box, yes I hear you asking:
"What is in it?"
Simply but;
I don't know, it rattles, it is heavy for it's size. I am investigation.
