Just got back from taking it for a good run to get some charge in battery..

Lesson #2 Don't moan at how long your dad has to take it out to recharge the battery especially when he has given up his day to help you... The air was blue let me tell ya!!!

I think they were about £150 a pair for five people at the same time. The worse bit is the gloop that’s poured into your ear canal to take a mould

The cans are good but they get tiring if worn for long periods. Also worth noting that the cans cause conflict with the arms from safety specs

When I’m on the ride on lawn mower I use Bilsom Thunder T3, not sure if you can buy them but they are really comfortable for me.

Went to a local metal yard and picked up a 3meter 8" x 8" rsj for over the garage door and while i was there spotted a useful trolley to use for pulling things about, But the real reason i wanted it is i can drop my mini shell onto it and get it in and out of the garage

I've got one exactly the same, it was dumped by kids in the car park where my son worked. The receptionist kept saying I'll have to get someone to take it away, he did! When we broke an MX5 I got the shell onto it so I could roll it out of the garage to work on, it was ideal.

Did you check aliexpress? Sometimes you can shave a bit off the price for unbranded tech straight from the factory.

I'm not too bothered about shaving a couple of quid off of 20 for a much longer delivery time, even though I am a Yorkshireman

I have used them for odd things, like Fitbit straps that you couldn't buy from Fitbit so you would have had to dump a 200 quid watch 'cos the strap snapped. Fitbit have learned from this and you can now buy them on newer models. I also bought some electronics bits via Aliexpress, pretty good from that perspective. A lot of the stuff from Aliexpress you have to buy in bulk, but if you need it then you can make big savings.

Them big bode rigs are great do you supply the big chair with the remote controls too
Ive chucked in tons of 5 mm inco rods with that set up . Like a human sub arc

Alibaba for bulk, aliexpress for consumers. I’m going to buy a wireless charging pad for my iPhone 8 - $150 no brand nz, something crazy from apple or £6 inc shipping off aliexpress.

I've deliberately been avoiding the skip at my new job apart from 5 steel tote pans and an almost new pedal bin with a broken lid which were pressed into use immediately in the garage. Notice the maintenance lad working on a pallet truck and thought nothing if it, then saw the rear wheels sticking out of the skip saying "Take me, take me"! Ball bearings and the axle shaft is long enough to cut and adapt.

Aye wheels take the chore out of a cramped w shop ive got every thing on wheels even my power hacksaw can chuck it outside and let it chew away

Jim i have yet to see any welder root a sch 10 x10 inch stainless pipe with mig solid wire conventional ie uphill ok weld neck flanges with backing tape or ceramic tiles could be possible but i can see so many rejects with open root i know pulse double pulse is the new can do but is it realy that good

I've personally done open root solid wire root runs on 25mm wall 250mm stainless pipe with a Lincoln STT machine years back for a client making his own CO2 cylinders for a fire suppression system (the CO2 pushed 2 litres of water at 3000 PSI through fogging nozzle) and that worked just fine. No purge, just a 3mm gap and a 60 degree prep with a 1mm nose on the root face. The subsequent passes were done with flux core. This was in the days before youtube and camera phones so no photographic evidence but it was good enough for the client to ditch his TIG/MMA setup and invest £16,000 in a Lincoln Electric Powerwave 455 STT dual feed mig/mag system. He said the time saved recouped his investment in 3 months!

Today I acquired a better understanding of depression, how it affects people and what our Men In Shed is about.

We have a member, very educated man, in his late fifties. I will call him J. He has been very ill with depression. But he is making a recovery. Today with his nurse he came to the shed to look for Me and another member. He had found some old tools, in the place he is now, he wanted to make them useful again.



This is some of what he brought to the session today. I hope The Mods will allow me to post this and more.

Seized and rusted solid. With me doing the angle grinding, the “nurse” was a bit nervous, understandable. We had the metal cleaned up.



J was allowed to cleaned the handles on the slow lathe, then of his own back made a Linseed oil bath.

My other new to me rasp.

I got my hands on a a rasp and 3 handles the other day, my plan today was to clean them up.

J was on a role, he was in a good place, so I let him run with my bits.

Yes, at my house, as they need to dry a bit more. The wooden bits were drowed in Linseed oil. We had to drink coffee, chat, explain to the nurse what we do and why. He has gone away with a good understanding as well.
But They will be going to his place.



That's the other 3, before they swam in oil.




That is the project for the next time he can come down, I hope in a weeks time.

Today, was an insight to me, on how bad depression can get. Today I hoped I did a bit to help a friend.
