To run a feeder from a constant current power source Bill, you need a voltage sensing feeder. This adjusts the wire speed as the arc voltage varies (more or less electrical stick out, gun angle etc). They work well in spray transfer, but not in short circuit transfer.
Suitable voltage sensing feeders are the Lincoln ln25, Miller 8vs and 12vs, Hobart hefty, technical arc tec feed series (the 200a one is cheap)...
I have a engine drive with a cv (mig) mode, so I can use a 'regular' wire feeder in short circuit transfer and spray transfer mode. My engine drive has 4 cv taps with voltage adjustment and will do 15-30v.
So in a word, you could run a voltage sensing feeder off the midget, but it wouldn't be particularly good.

Ah I see, so really the midget is best kept for stick welding and use something else for powering a MIG.

A new skill. After a massive row with my wife who seems to be getting worse and increasingly jealous of me helping my son......I thought sod it and let her dad collect her for tea and went into my workshop.....it's a right mess as I have been sorting the back room for the last week.....to pacify the wife..
Anyway I made a mad dash to Cromwells to grab a thread file...they shut at 3.30 and I got there at 3.24 the trade counter was locked so I used the roller shutter door.
I was not in the mood to be told no as I had phoned to check it was in stock, what time they shut, and if they took cards....and driven like the wind about 20 miles.
The result after an hour of watching double boosts video and taking my time filing. It was real mangled at the end of the shaft.

I got a De-Walt grinder out of the scrap skip at work. Tried it at home, no luck. New set of brushes off Ebay (from China of course) for 99p delivered and RESULT!

Skip full of waste timber for firewood, sorted this lot out as too good to burn, and chopped up the rest for the stove. I will router a bead profile on the edge and use it as wainscotting for my narrow boat cabin.
I have now got all the materiels for a complete cabin fit out salvaged for free, just need a few sheets of 4 mm ply to buy for the ceiling lining, and I can start work this spring / summer.
Might have to buy a box of panel pins though !

Wasn't free but very cheap, 4 cu ft of english walnut, same in plum ,5 cu ft cherry, large slabs of burr maple, 10 large slabs of holm oak ,2 huge slabs of ash ,large box of ,paduak ,rose wood ,purple heart ,pink ivory wood w,ebony plus holly ,laurel and loads of bits I can't id, enough to keep me busy making small items of furniture etc for a few months now I am retired,gonna b
get some more next month,will have to build a store for it ,it is Al, dry as well,gloat gloat

Very jealous - I bought an oak tree and had it planked a couple of years ago, its been sat in the barn should be dry now. Its very pippy and should make a nice dining table, when I get around to it. I also bought a large amount of douglas fir to make into a Roubo bench, that was straight from the mill and is also drying out. Once I have built the boiler room, fitted the boiler, reassembled the tractor and built the extension for the kids bedroom............
Yesterday I tried out that Sealey Supermig 180 that I got gifted. It was not to good, porous welds etc, It turned out to be the regulator. The initial pull of the trigger sent the gas through then the pressure just faded away. I put my regulator on the bottle cobbled the hoses together and away it went working as it should. I must say the outlet of the original reg was only about 3mm I don't know if that had some bearing on the gas supply as well as it seems a poor set up(very small outlet on reg and small hoses to suit). Looking forward to some feedback.
