We can include Myford in that, amazing how the ML7 has the same swing as the 3 1/2" Drummond but the Myford sounds twice as big. Speaking of which I need a bigger three jaw or something with both sets of jaws anything over 2" is getting very close to the end of the scroll, well I don't really, I just need to get faster clocking in the four jaw.Swing is the American way of classing lathe size. Whereas we state the centre height, they quote the maximum diameter it'll turn. It makes things sound bigger.
I've got a drawer of bearing races I use for that, just got to remember to take them out before you start the lathe!TBH I prefer a flat-faced chuck. Often I'll use a parallel against the face to set a part up in the jaws. Not possible with the sculpted face of the taylor chuck.
Picked this up the other day for £20, real heavy bit of kit
