LookL like dies on the top item?Right, now to the real acquisitions. Met a chap a little bit along the street and stopped to blether. He said "Oh, I'm glad you stopped, I found a couple of things while looking for something else and thought you might find a use for them, being into metalwork an' all. [He's into woodworking].
So, we have exhibit A [I know what it's for but do any of you]. It belonged to his Dad who ran a local garage until he retired, and is no longer with us. The name "M Brown" is stamped on the underside, so it might be an Apprentice/student test piece. That wasn't his Dad's name.

And exhibit B: Neither of us know what it is/is for. It's very heavy for it's size so possibly cast steel or iron, not done any magnet, file or spark test on it - in truth I'm reluctant to and I'm not even sure I'd know how to exactly decipher the results [I know a little]. Clearly for clamping something, but what? No markings on it either.

What did I acquire today?
Well a friend took me out for dinner. Not a traditional Sunday lunch, but a Chinese's buffet lunch. She drove and paid for it.
Win. Win.
She dropped off at home and gave me this, a cardboard box as Thanks for helping her move house a few months ago.
No I don't know what "SATO TAPES" were either. Until Googled helped.
So do I need those tapes?
No.
So I opened the box anyway.
A box of not tapes.
Plus a letter
2 box's of 1mm cutting disc, 20 flap disc in 2 different grades and a box of rubber gloves.

So got asked by a neighbour if I wanted a couple of guns. Rude not to really,
So got given these, one 12bore one 20bore side by side shotguns.
The 12 bore is a box lock which he bought back in 1981 but the makers name is nearly unreadable unfortunately so trying to figure out who it was. The 20 bore is a gunmark kestrel ejector which will make a cracking hedge gun.

Been looking for a bandsaw for a while, needed to be a table top jobbie as don't have space for anything bigger. Also needed to be suitable for cutting metal as I have some aluminium to slice up.
This popped up on eBay, bid n won and was collected for me yesterday
It's an Emco Star, bit more than just a bandsaw looking at the brochure and handbook that came with it.

Took a fine triangular file to the base and it turns out to be an alloy of some kind, but the clamp bit is steel [well, at least it takes a magnet]. A mate has suggested it's just a 'third hand' someone has made which might just be the answer.
No guesses on the press, anyone?

A few months later 3 Henry's came up one was wet and dry was an older model but after 3 hours fixing changing parts and descaling I got a very good working wet and dry numatic George just going to do in front of our seats in the front room as I type
Ps I fixed one of the others as I needed new brushes took the bushes out if the other broken one and this is now up and running this well be changed for beer money to offset the cost of the 3 I bought
A headache and a bleeding scalp whilst working on the rear tub of my pickup in the garage I tripped over the rotisserie it's on and smacked my head on it, put my hand up to rub it better only to encounter blood. Don't mind admitting it knocked me sick for a while.
