I got this Bit and brace Hole saw.




Well after a few hours work, coffee and help from a friend.

It has ended up as this.





Eclipse no 280 tank and washer cutter.

The pilot drill was just long enough to fit into a sharpening jig and took and edge.

The cutter I had to do by hand and a slip stone.

Any one know an easy way of sharpening them?

Not bad.
I asked the man to weigh the truck (Toyota Surf) while on the weighbridge and it came out at 2 tons with an empty fuel tank but the wife in the passenger seat......

A Dremel tool with a stone for sharpening might be easier.

Clean copper £2.00 a Killo.
Clean bright copper ( striped wire) £2.50 a killo.
Mixed copper £1.50 a killo.

Today I acquired.
This fantastic 8.5 inch four jaw Taylor chuck
. In great condition with chuck key. It will make a fantastic addition to my empire lathe.

Is copper fetching a good price again? I have 2 tanks full of off cuts that are odd bits or old pipe, i call it my christmas fund

It's an old gravity cylinder so has a huge solid coil inside, about 35kg worth!

I got one a few years ago. Used the sheet to make a bar top in my man cave. The domed top has made a lid for a massive frying pan. The dished base made a bowl as a present. The coil is still sitting there waiting for a use

I was thinking that as well, @bigegg I'm guessing you have a lot of dual carridgeway "A road" around your way otherwise if it's only a single then you should only be doing 50.

A lot and I do mean a lot of people don't realise (or don't care that) there is a difference between a "car derived van" and a van, if it's a proper van then it's classed as under 7.5t goods vehicle as far as speeds go.

Hardware closing down sale, got 6 packs of scotchbrite-style (Sia Blue Line ones) for a £1 a pack! Mix of general and very fine.
Oh and some funny glue and a sprayer thingy that attaches to any drinks bottle.

Other thing, from an autojumble was this collet chuck, but I can't find much information about it. Wonder if anyone recognises it?

I changed a fair few copper combination cylinders in small rentals for more economical 15 litre hot water units, The added bonus was all the scrap cylinders, I had about 20 at one point and made a few into plant pots and light fittings or shades.

Cranked handle adjustable wrench. All working, bit of surface rust.
How ever I can not look at this without thinking and laughing at what my friend call it.
"Oh it looks like a sperm, is it called a sperm spanner"
English is not her first language.

Now the 2 items hat I plan to have fun is restoring.

I hand cranked pump, it has a name on it. But I have not looked into the history, as of yet.

Stanley 3/8" bench mounted hand powered drill.
Nothing moves on it.

So I am going to be busy.

I have found out some history of the tools I got.

The small pillar drill. it is not a Stanley drill.
It pre dates Stanley.

It is a Goodell Pratt, there is a link for those interested.

I think it says "Trojan"
I am still hunting and bidding on the vice what should of came with it..

It is a a 1950's Sigma semi-rotary hand pumps.
They were used in the ROC bunkers, REME repair shops and oddly on O Class Submarines.


What I can find out the short handle would indicate it is Naval version. The ROC had longer handles.
It is in bits, in de-greaser.
I called a favour in to have the asbestos gasket material removed.

Some have more established overground facilities, watch towers and concrete enclosures. Many flooded and burnt out but some restored to the condition they were in. I remember years ago when Wigan police station was abandoned someone broke in (ironic) and stole what later appeared on eBay as ‘fancy telephone’. A guy I used to do a lot of jobs for owns one, or rather his wife does. It is the one at Peasie Hill , Elliot, Arbroath. She has a small museum there with open days now and then.

Got pulled by the police one night on a golf course (there was a right of way through it) whilst looking for an ROC post. They asked what I was doing and I told them I was looking for a nuclear bunker, to which they replied “oh aye, many of them on here is there” I replied “well you’re stood next to the hatch”

They were actually quite interested when I showed them details on my phone
