I know it's off topic ..I apologise but think on this post afore you kennel your dogs & cats .

Never again will I kennel our dog here in South Wales .. Five years ago , the last time we put him in kennels was for three weeks , he was fuly uptodate with injections , worming & flea treatment.

I'd turned up unannounced a day early to collect him , the kennels owner was reluctant to let me have him three & then saying he hadn't been groomed , alarm bells rang big time .
The poor little beggar, whimpered , cried & yorped from the minute he heard me speaking , till he jumped in the back of the Sedona .. it was nearly two weeks before he's stop following me about like a shadow & that was with me training him all over again to stay whilst I moved a few feet away ..increasing the distance each time. As soon as I got out of sight he'd come tearing after me.

He was in a supposedly highly recommended five star kennel , I took him to the vets the next morning ….he'd lost six kg off his 27 kg weight and was a gibbering wreck , full of tape worm , diarrhoea and fleas. His coat was full of his poop. The 20 kg bag of his feed chicken & rice feed that would normally last him 30 days had all been used .. to feed the rest of the kennelled dogs no doubt
What he was crapping/ squirting out was rough milled undigested barley most likely sprayed with a week beef stock to get the dogs to eat it . We specifically asked that we give them his normal food for he has a wheat intolerance difficulty .​

When our vet saw the state of him he was fair spitting with anger , suspecting that he'd never been out of his kennel & pen at any time for exercise or human contact , possibly not even being allowed to go into the pen just shut up in the kennel .

If I had a dog, the only kennel I'd put it in is my sister's - she has them in the house as part of the family, so far the most I've seen wandering though the house and garden is a dozen, only two are hers...

It's a bit noisy when you ring the doorbell, obviously.

Remember when slip-sticks were used for calculating everything ? I remember a friends father using one, must be 35 years ago.

I went back to college relatively recently to do some Electronic Engineering, amazed people with one - got ticked off for it being "not accurate enough" - asked how much of a premium they paid for components better than 1% tolerance... And did it need batteries? Did their calculators?

I have a black lab who spends three days a week at the kennels - loves it! We joke it’s like Ibiza for dogs, he comes back knackered every day and keeps him quiet and sleepy for a few days

I would have planted my knuckles up that mans nose and asked him to call the police so they could investigate what was going on, These people should never be allowed near animals.

The RSPCA take all their animal captures / rescues to the place .
That's what made me feel it would be a good place , we saw an RSPCA rescue van driver taking to rescued sheep dogs out the van and into the kennel service area when we enquired abut kenneling our dog . That made me think well if the RSPCA ar putting animals into here is should be a decent place for our dog .
It was only after our collecting event I realised why the RSPCA were using the place ..it's the cheapest place in Wales to put them before the RSPCA put them down if they cannot quickly be rehomed .

Today I acquired a £10 , 240 volt 30 watt needle point soldering iron from " Range " at Llanelli . I've been looking for something bigger than my small Antex iron for several years that had a decent needle point .. Best of all it has a small pot of resin based flux with it ..

Just the thing I need for a small job my neighbour has asked me to do yesterday ..I'll cover some stripped off coax copper shield with a few dabs of resin , so I can make a solder removing wick to de solder the holes in a board for a small IC on a tiny two circuit double sandwich board that controls some LED lights . You have to de solder and re solder both sides of boards to make a full circuit on all four legs of the IC .

I tried a solder sucker but it wasn't much good as it is 30 years old , the nozzle is long shot & I've been too tight to buy a new one . Now the local Maplin's have died I never got round to replacing it . More PayPal expense in the near future methinks .

I have a slide rule issued to REME engineering apprentices back in 1966 . It has the REME badge on it & it's still in its original blue plastic case with the original instructions .

I've turned traitor to this forum.

I've moved to a canal mooring out in the sticks where there are no skips, no bins and nothing to acquire, I've got over the cold turkey stage, and now I feel liberated, I'm selling everything I don't need, and donating the money to the pub across the road.

My old computer had two 22" 1080p displays, they were okay they looked a bit dated against my shiny new laptop so...

27" 4k, lovely thin bezels and modern connections (No more VGA & DVI-A). The best part - £150 off eBay, "For repair" as the power button has broken off, I was expecting to pull it apart and solder a new one in but I plugged it in and it just turned on.

Only downside is no vesa mount so it's gonna take some tinkering to use it in portrait but I can live with that.

Excellent I was hoping someone on here knew about this machine, A preliminary googling hasn't come up with much. Perhaps I could trouble you for a picture or two of the drive belt and cover if still present on your machine?
