I have a pair of 24"? 30"? perhaps stilsons i use for taking valves out of gas cylinders.

Oooh. I acquired a good pair of 24" stilsons, and have several gas bottles that could do with de-valving!

Use stillys most weeks as pipe fittings part of my job! We used to have a pair of 72" ones in the corner of the workshop but no-one new why, we only had max 4" pipe!!
10" ones are handy for getting stripped studs out, straightening things, etc.

Make up a de-valving spanner, though they all come out with a hammer after you cut the sheild off.

The terrifying bit is using an angle grinder on the shield of a gas bottle thats not been cleaned out yet..

The sheild is only held on by a few tabs, zip through them with a thin disk, taking care no to cut into the bottle, and your done.Then belt the valve loose, and fill with a hose,put valve back, and cut it while its full of water. Let water drain out as you cut, so that no water is getting onto the grinder electrics.

I cut one in half after washing it out, and got a big flame shooting out, others have never had this happen, but it put me off cutting empty bottles. And required new underpants.

Got my greasy mits on this Fire bell today.

Full working.

Normally by the time we get to replace them they are rusted solid or the plastic back plate is so UV damaged it shatters when removing or trying to repair them.

Got a crate of those bells, just the metal domes, I plan on making mushroom ventilators for narrowboats out of them.

Old style alarms with a metal backing frame yes.

But one with a plastic back is hard to find,

I got these today for a steal. I didn't even know Bisley did drawer cabinets this big, I already have four of the standard 11-drawer units under my bench and they are fantastic space-savers but these two are just awesome.

Each drawer is 22" long 11.5" wide and just over 3" deep. Loads of storage!

You can reduce the height of those cabinets, to work bench height, and bolt a thick ply on top, and you get a sturdy bench with all your tools right underneath.

They're for microfiche cards, got some at work, unfortunately they're full of archive drawings.

Thanks Eddy. I've been looking for some dividers but they seem to be quite scarce. If your cabinets are full of drawings does that mean there are any spare dividers kicking around?

Afraid not, the drawings on microfiche then mounted on index cards, the dividers are all used to split the sites up. Next time I'm near them I'll get pic for you.

I got hold of some slightly out of date stuff from work as it can't be sold, molykote spray, dry graphite spray, plus quite a few others, 5ltrs of rothenberger threading oil (loose top) and a 250ml bottle of loctite thread lock, low strength, just checked the cost of buying it all new and in date would be a shade under £300, I didn't think loctite was so expensive, but there again it's cost me nothing so a bargain. I think I'll be doing a regular check on the scrap pallet from now on.

Oh yeah; I snapped up some NOS Loctite at a bootsale 20 years ago and it's still going well. Incredibly out of date by now, but I only use it on non-critical bits. Something that was important would justify a spend on fresh stuff. Grab it when you see it.
