Helped a mate tear down an old shed on a plot of land he’s bought and brought home loads of the timber for the wood burner I’m fitting.
Spent some time this afternoon cutting it into bite-sized chunks.
This is only about 1/6 of it.

It’s actually a crane, the one that was overloaded, collapsed and blocked the road on Monday. They do now have one of those lift things in its place:

View attachment 188618 Eventually got round to trying out my new 5” grinder. You only realise how ***** a normal little angle grinder is when you use a decent one.1700w. Push as hard as you like and it doesn’t slow down. Cutting discs last longer too . I am well pleased...

I think I have 6 small grinders, enough to have each type of disc fitted on a grinder but if I need to do a lot of the same type of work I use the Metabo 5" every time. The extra power gives you more control & you can use it for forever without your hands cramping up. The only drawback is the body is just a bit too fat to be confident using it one handed.

Near Belfast was a Old fashioned Spade/ shovel makers. Been on the Tv a few times, it was a fantastic visit.

They make stuff like that the old fashioned way.

Today’s finds - I restored the Moore and Wright scraper set, a nice find for $30 and I think I can sell it for a profit. Also got a pair of Whitehouse loppers. @The_Yellow_Ardvark here is my small collection of Whitehouse tools.

This is the one made by Fein. Adjustable speed. 1700 w and it’s got what they call the Eurohandle- same sort of handle as some 9” grinders. Soft start as well. Well worth the money

I have about six too, but only use three, cutting, grinding, flap disc.

I recently bought a big 5 inch with variable speed, quite good, but like you say, too big to hold comfortably in one hand. That one is in the storage shed, as a back up spare.

The three I use regularly live on a handy rack right next to the vice, where they play their trade.

Me and my wife were at Newlands park in June and we looked in there.
I also went to The Tunnel three times , a couple of miles away from where we were staying and I shot some 1940's Lee Enfield, Mauser and Mosin Nagant.

a proxon "rotary ratchet"



works like a normal ratchet, but the ratchet can also be driven by twisting the handle - via a 1/4" drive if neccessary.

£23 for the 1/2" size, and seems to have good reviews. We shall see.
