Back in the 1980’s I was privilege to work on a Gentleman & Ladies Cane Set. This was before the new gun laws came in.
The cane set was made up of 4 piece in a felt line oiled rose wood box. It also had all the cleaning tools needed.
For Him.
12 bore Cane stick in 12 bore, similar what was just posted.
Pocket size/ palm size 4 shot revolver, size was an old English and I don’t recall the size.
For The Lady.
4/10 parasol gun, the trigger was exposed by twisting the ivory hand grip.
2 shot derringer pistol, in .22. Again with inlayed ivory handles.
A well-made kit, I believe it was made in about 1860 ish. Had a few beers since I worked on it. My research back then indicated when a English gentleman traveled or his wife they were expected to be able to defend them self’s. I have re leaded and silver toped cane. It was loaded with lead and I recall the paper work what came with it, (from Greeves and Hawk)
“Should a gentleman need to disengage a ruffian, this town cane will be able to deliver a blow of suitable force to discourage the rift-raff from attempting to unlawfully upsetting the owner.”
