Winchboy here, Winchmans son. One of the bigger things I've bought from eBay (had to get one up on Winchman for biggest thing bought on ebay) and can't wait to go camping with it, alongside the 3L mercedes engine inside it (rivet counters look away). Any advice would be appreciated as well as spares etc hoping to do a mild restoration of it , knock dents out, re-paint, tart up some of the rougher repairs on the body work where its been plated. Just paid for not yet collected however as its 300 miles away on the south coast, just getting my ear defenders and warm coat ready for it. Luckily we've got an AA membership and it should do 30mpg.
In the Parkside leaflet there is an address for customer care ..I think it is a wwww. one …. I went there & eventually found a new battery for my little vibrating saw . IIRC it was going to be £3 more than a new one from the store when the P&P had been addedSplurged on a new drill at lunchtime, i can't justify dewalts etc as i just don't use them enough. I had a parkside cordless for years and it was great, then the battery died, and i could not get a new one. This was 30 eurodollars, no battery or charger, but i have a battery and charger anyway. Gave it a whirl tonight and its ok for the light work i would be doing.

Getting the pillar tube back in the hole once you've cut it is best done with the head laid on it's side rather than try and hold it up above a vertical tube . The last one I played with .. I left the tube in place , laid the drill on it's side undid the foot , cut it chamfered the cut and put the foot back on ..had to slacken the top rack clamp to allow the rack to move up . I then had to get help to get it back on it foot and bolt it securely to the bench .I acquied a 12 speed Nu-Tool Bench Drill. Runs well, chuck seems true with no wobble but needs a good clean and so the movement of the arms is smooth again.
One slight problem is that it doesn't fit on my bench due to the height. Current position is about all I can manage and it's no use there. As the motor and drill and mounted on a post then clamped with grub screws. My thinking is I can just cut off 3 inch from the top so that I can move it into a better position on the bench then pull it forward to use, dropping it on its side to adjust the pulleys. Any one see a problem with that scenario before I start cutting?

That was lucky .Luckily I’d had my weetabix that day and was able to lift it straight on. I used the spirit levels and tape measure to unsure it was all lined up before clamping the head tight.
That's more pornography related than the chainsaw oil up in the comments beforeNot me but our Men's Shed acquired this bag of goodies.

It's this kit but we've swapped the hammer drill for a more useful cordless planer.
We had applied for funding for more cordless tools & it has eventually came through & this was bought from FFX for £675.
This will mean less extension leads to act as trip hazards, a lot of our members are not good on their feet!
Now we have some 5ah batteries we are going to buy a cordless grinder.
I will surely make a parkside cordless kit in the future and I will be not afraid to take them out in the job siteIn the Parkside leaflet there is an address for customer care ..I think it is a wwww. one …. As I was passing the distillery, it would have been rude not to:

No pics are available of the 12 Tunnock’s Teacakes that were purchased at the same time, as they are now residing somewhere inside my stomach .
12 - Really
And, the best part of today, I’ve acquired a paid weekend to Shetland .
Parked near Arbroath tonight awaiting tomorrow when a Scottish haulier is bringing me a sectional phone mast on our short body. Great piece of kit, you drop the trailer then with the crane you lift the body and sit it on 4 twistlock posts, (same as shipping containers sit on), that are part of the subframe for the crane, and it turns the artic unit into a short wheelbase rigid lorry. Superb for accessing very tight sites, makes the rig ultra versatile.
And even better, the installation is on Monday, but Sunday’s overnight ferry from Aberdeen is full, so I’m on tomorrow night’s ferry, which gives me most of Sunday to indulge in birdwatching and whisky drinking. And Monday night’s ferry back to Aberdeen is full, so I get most of Tuesday to play out as well .
Thus, I admit to being a happy chappy today .
Sounds an interesting set up are you allowed to get the site some photos?
