If youve time before the final cut give it a good drenching with thin varnish and let it dry, it will stop the hairyness and should give a nicer cutIt doesn’t chip, but it does come out a little hairy in places. Nothing insurmountable. I did figure out the issue with the Oak though. Those pieces came out a skip. They were the legs of a table. Three pieces of 20mmx60mm laminated together. I cut two bits, marking how they were oriented and glued them together, side by side. However…whoever glued the three bits together didn’t glue them that the grain runs in the same direction. So I start off cutting with the grain. All happy. 20mm in and I get to the next bit and all of a sudden I am now going against the grain. This is where it chips out at the end. I can probably get around this by leaving the blank oversize, machining the pocket and then cutting it to length.

Tube for vac chamber. Decided to make it in two parts two either be used together or seperately depending on item size. Wouldnt fit in bandsaw vice but it had no problem following a line by hand. 150 and 43mm lengths.

Flipping it now for other side. This had lathe and me covered in powdery dust, galv/zinc seasoning?
I was expecting it to ring, short bit turned ok.
150 and 43mm lengths.
Im thinking a good fitting connector tube, probably from my lump of delrin.
Do you know a good grinding firm?Spigot shaft back from hardening. Finished ground the two bearing journals and the flange. Had warped 0,04mm so was well happy with that

No, done myself Ona friends cylindrical grinderDo you know a good grinding firm?
I had some grinding done years ago by a guy somewhere not far from you. Cannot remember his name or location. Found on the internet ,he was a one man band. Had a small little shop with three cylindrical grinders. All I remember was he was located in a shopping centre kind of place surrounded by houses. There was a place that fitted car radios there and there was like a burger joint/ roadhouse kind of place in the same little complex. Must have been about 6-7 years ago. Did good work, price wasn’t the worst. No idea if he is still going.Do you know a good grinding firm?
