Well thanks to @Blicksheep and other comments for recommending Haix.

Nabbed off eBay for £30. They're for use in the shed but I can confirm they are incredibly comfortable. I was wearing them round the house as if they were slippers.

On new to me boots I first leave the boots in the hotpress to warm the leather, then apply a thick coat of the leder gris, warm the leather with a hair dryer or hot air gun (carefully) to get the stuff to soak into the leather, then wipe off the excess.
Then to get an even finish let the boots cool down, apply a light coat of the leder gris, leave it overnight & buff it to leave a nice satin finish.

I just gave a nod to the first poster who mentioned Haix, popped off to eBay and lucked out with a nice pair.

No these are 9's 43 euro. Really good nick, super comfy, almost a shame to use them in the shed!

I took them out for a walk yesterday when I got me trolley and while I thought I might have to "break them in" I literally forgot I was wearing them. That's quite unusual for a new boot.

the guy was selling from bristol ? anyways no worries I laughed about it , I couldnt get my sniper to work, so sat the last few minutes watching ,filled the little price in bid box ready to pounce...7 seconds to go the bid hopped to £30...so went to hit bid now and because they had a bid in my bid box went blank..typed in my bid hit bid, hit confirm bid and was out of time..never mind they are on there every day so just bid on another pair should be here anytime , glad to hear your getting on well with them , and yes liking the trolley you saved from skip , excellent result , like others have said re you VW Steve, make sure its running and get it on ebay with honest description , the vw guys pay silly monies . good luck Arther

Thanks @arther dailey to be honest, I kinda like this particular van so I might be throwing some money at it as a keeper.

Before I do anything I might wheel it off to a local garage (I have worked with) for an honest opinion on the rust damage in the rear, largely floor but some chassis and bodywork. Because of the way it was parked, I couldn't get to the rear to do it at the same time. Because it was so difficult, now I think I'd prefer to pay someone else!

I know the garage well and they might even let me "chip in" with making up the odd insert piece etc. if they tell me it is a cost effective option.

Full disclosure: I just started getting my pension(s) and from being stone broke for years, I now have more hard cash than I have ever seen in my whole life!

Be interested to see how you get on with them , I loved my hiax work boots but never tried anything for hiking

Well in my opinion my Grisport Gamekeeper Sporting Boots are much nicer to wear out of the box being a nicer softer leather but I have not worn the Hiax boots out yet

The mid sole is much more flexible on the grisport compared to the hiax.
I say twice as flexable.

you will love them, my wife had mine on when she came outside said they are too big! she thought they were her ones, as the last pair were too small so got sent back.

Would you say too flexible..? I'm curious as I have some lighter weight Grisport boots that I find a tad too flexible.

not not too flexible at all just right I believe, but let me wear the Hiax tomorrow evening to walk the dog, I normally wear the Grisport to the yard, drive in them walk the dog 2 miles ish do the choirs, ill use the Hiax tomorrow and report back.
