i generally use some form of hammer for adjusting things...........I have a pair of Engelbert Strauss, mine are specific towards the welding trade and my first pair with them so can't speak for regular boots of the brand. I find them comfortable, even for 6+ hours, reassuring and tough. I've noticed a couple of scuffs on mine recently, although I don't go out of my way to keep them mint condition and use the protection as a convenient means of kicking frames into place should the need arise. All I do with mine is bring them inside and wipe them down. Only had them about 3 months mind, but if they last 12, I'd be buying another pair.
i was recommended - on here - a specific set from Screwfix - Now about to buy my third pair, very comfy, water proof for a while and the longest lasting at 12-18 months. They have been re-named since the original thread, but still excellent - https://www.screwfix.com/p/site-elbert-safety-trainer-boots-brown-size-9/389fh?_requestid=2884498
I’ve had a pair of these but Hyena made them at the time. Proper comfy boots but I go through laces like no body’s business with all the burning and welding so moved to riggersHave a pair of them, about 3yrs old now, don't get used everyday but probably equates to 1yr of full time use
They are comfy, can't comment on waterproofness but can't remember getting wet feet
They do go through laces as some of the eyelets had sharp edges, sorted that with a small round file
I did notice some welding related damage the other day, looks like the brown fabric type stuff doesn't like hot welding splatter
Would definitely buy another pair

You get seen kicking item to move something's on some sites I do. The person in charge will bend your ear.
Or if you have exposed the steel protection. You will be asked to stop work and get them replaced.
At your expense.
Over the top?
No. Just ensuring your PPE is in good condition and suitable to do their job.
What you do at home is your choice. But I like my boots to be safe, dry and warm.
I think the Site stuff is pretty good for the money and the boots I have are great. My only criticism is the lace hooks tend to damage the lace.i was recommended - on here - a specific set from Screwfix - Now about to buy my third pair, very comfy, water proof for a while and the longest lasting at 12-18 months. Best boots I ever had back in the day were made by U-VEX the same company that makes the PPE gear (goggles etc)

No mate, my trousers go in them but my overalls go over them so all is goodNot had a set of rigger boots, I have looked at them from time to time, don't you have problems with welding splatter dropping down inside them?
Parm. Don't know if they still make them, it must be 10 years since I had pair.Do they still make boots?
Solid gear let me down after 9 months but so so comfy like slippers.
Doc martins riggers 3 months.
Now have a pair of helly hansen work boots really comfy and great as far as i can tell. Lasted 3 months unscathed so far submerged in all sorts from sea water, lathe coolant, excrement, had acid, coolant concentrate, various other chemicals and tools/parts dropped on them, weld spatter and hot objects in access of 200 degrees c dropped on them, withstands walking and standing on surfaces plus 80 degrees c. Love them to bits so far hope they will last me a year at least and look as though they will. Have kept my feet dry safe and comfortable through it all.
Before anyone asks im a marine engineer on a comtainer ship. I also use them occasionally when helping my mate who works on a farm.
What Helly Hansen boots? they have some rather funky ones?
We can send a man to the moon but can't make a man a decent work boot.Hard to compare one mans work to another.
I’m getting about 8 months out of a pair of cat boots.
I’ve tried Wolverine. Comfy but insides fall apart. Had three pairs.
I’ve tried doc martins, soles fall off, mega comfy for the two weeks they lasted.
Dewalt cheap crap, muck your feet up.
My dads currently on Ariat boots but no good for wide feet.
Yep, pretty bad state of affairs. We can send a man to the moon but can't make a man a decent work boot.
