Work boots

Engelbert Strauss for me, not the most durable i've ever had but pretty good and more importantly they do wide fit, which is a revelation when you have had to make do with wearing “the next size up” for 20 years because nobody else bothers to make one. Can't put a price on having well fitting footwear.

I ended up with a pair of Engelbert Strauss as they where the closest thing I could find in the UK to what I wanted
The selection of proper leather boots in this country is appalling not exactly much I wanted and there is a massive choice in the US but nowt here

When I came out of my time and steel capped cripplers first pair of good boots were TUF. so comfortable, almost as good as a short time (for the older viewers)

I have a pair of V12 dealers
They are cripplingly uncomfortable if worn for walking very far but I'm far to tight to throw away a pair of boots that arnt worn out

My dad and I have had v12 safety trainers and both agree, they are the most comfortable shoe we own.
Was hoping the boots would be the same.

In summertime, and heck wintertime too when I am in the shop, I wear slip on Sievi shoes, it's just so quick and easy. Not for working outdoors in wet or winter weather though.
They also have a bunch of safety boots and shoes. All made in Finland.

My old Dad wore clogs at home and the garden, every time he went to Sweden he used to stock up. My mother in law wore clogs for work all her life, said anything else was rubbish and she was on her feet all day.

I will just NOT wear rubbish shoes or boots. I am a half size and to get a proper half size in a wide fitting costs unfortunately. For day to day in the shop though, I find Waldlaufer walking shoes fit lovely and I get at least a year from a pair. About 90 quid on Amazon. Hoggs of Fife do a beautiful Veldtshoen called the Roxburgh and I would love to find out who makes them for them. They are heavy, totally waterproof (totally, was in a right downpour with them) and available in a wide fitting, I would have another pair in a heartbeat.

I hear some of you with "only one pair of feet" but for your own sake, have at least two pairs of regular boots/shoes that you rotate and that way you won't literally walk into any deformities or really odd callouses on your feet, nothing worse than painful feet when you are on them all day. Was a time when I couldn't afford decent shoes or boots so now I am making up for it. If you can only spring for one pair, try to make it a good pair and if you don't need steel toes Altberg boots from the Army Surplus are a good buy or genuine German Paratroopers boots, first class they are.

They did Tuf shoes as well. Probably wasn’t true, but the rumour went round that the 6 month guarantee was stopped in some parts of the country as workers were “hot booting” at the gates on shift change. Difficult to believe as I can’t imagine swapping boots with someone just to save a few quid.

I wore Caterpillar premier boots for some years but the quality has gone and they where only lasting 6 month in the end.

so I moved to a pair of Oliver work boots, so far 9 month and still going strong, would highly recommend:

no not political as said tuff couldn't understand it that they wore out in 6 month. they started that caper when I was a kid. a few years ago I was rewiring a street house for some Asians a council grant and it was getting damp proofed as well. it was 3 bedroom house and about a dozen lived there hmm I wonder how that works turns out there all taxi drivers and work different shifts so as said hot bed

My feet hurt a lot due to the concrete floor at my current workplace. They get very sore and swollen after a days work. Never had this issue in previous shops.

I am after the most comfortable boots safety cap work boot in existence. I don’t care what it costs.

These are really comfy had a pair and they lasted 2 years only not bought another as they are bloody expensive and I couldn’t afford another pair when buying boots last. Felt like slippers. Kept my feet warm and dry even in a hot humid engine room. Resisted all the sea water, diesel, heavy fuel, and chemicals including acid and weld spatter I could throw at them. Best boots I have ever had.

Any of the grisport range would do but you really need to go to a stockist & try the boot on as everybody has different shaped feet & what I find comfortable may not suit you!

Redwing boots are highly regarded by the members on here & being USA made there should be a stockist in your area.

They used to be a decent, comfortable boot, I could get a year from a pair with plenty of abuse & no care. But they are rubbish now, they will dissolve/fall apart before your eyes. I'll leave it up to you to decide if this was due to moving production to China!

Cr@p overall is my experience of them. Great if you can afford to replace every 6 months. They just wear out.

In the end when I used to be out on site I used to buy cheap boots as I found no matter how much I spent on them they all leaked after a few months depending on site conditions, I get athletes foot if my feet get damp at all

Hoggs zeus boots, gone through 2 sets now, both failed within 4 months

BUT I think It could possibly be the conditions they are under.
If in a different trade/not dealing with slurry etc possibly lasted longer.

Which is a shame as really comfortable boots.
