I am thinking of doing that to the radiator thermostats. Once again, these devices are switches according to her and every time I turn my back, they are all wide open. I have tried to explain flow and balancing but you can see the glass wall come down as soon as I open my mouth.

I've just had a row with the missus over thermostats! We have 3 as we've got 2 Wiser ones on the radiators. Triple trouble!

I was considering trying one of these diesel heaters from Vevor (there are loads of different makes, probably all from the same factory) in my garage.
But then I realised I don't even have a space against a wall for one of them .
The plan would have been to drill an exhaust vent through the wall.


There are loads of youtube videos on them, some of the running cost calculations are a bit dodgy but it will be good to know what the average running costs are.

Dennis does your heat pump work at -20C, -30C? I was under the impression they pretty much chill out about -10C and you then needed an alternative heat source.

This one works down to -25C

Slightly on topic , when all the talk of electrickery costs sky-rocketing started in earnest, I ordered one of these CLICKY.

It's lain unopened until last night when I thought I'd better make an effort and at least try it. It's unbelievable how cosy it is, although I look like a total prat in it. But what do I care, nobody's admiring me and it saves cranking up the heating.

The Vevor is the same as all the others. 4kw not 8kw but a serious bargain all the same. One of mine ran for 5000 hours on kero no problem at all until my mate filled the tank with bleach instead
I have 3 of them and they are brilliant.
No point heating the warehouse though - be like trying to heat the whole of Swansea. 4C in there at the moment and I will be cutting wood again tonight. Concession to getting older I actually wear a sleeveless body warmer when cutting wood but too warm when moving about.

I think it’s because they’re advertised at 8kw and DEFRA max is 5. Maybe what he’s getting at.

Or it’s running on red.

Only if you run them on waste oil, you need a license to run them on waste oil allegedly.
If you use diesel all should be fine.
