I was blaming it on bindippers, not BEV's, get over yourself.
Just because I'm paranoid.... doesn't mean they aren't out to get me

Regrettably true that.Nothing wrong with being paranoid mate.
"you believe that other people are trying to harm you or steal from you"
Mostly in modern society they are... It is a very reasonable fear in the year 2023.
Regrettably true that.
Rip you off perhaps?Maybe not harm or steal - that maybe a bit too strong in general.
But do you feel opressed by other people thougths and ideas being forced on you?
Do you feel - free speech - now does not really mean "free speech".
Not sure I explaining myself very well here - I not that articulate - I only a retard kid.
Free speech is fine if you don't stray from the expected narrative - like 'net zero' for example.
If it brightens someones day, then it'll be worth the expected vitriol. You Oldgit - you could not help yourself could you! "prod - nerve"

Just as relevant as your post I might suggest?
We need a good, reliable reference to your 3000 Celsius claim. Maybe, perhaps, likely you are quoting Fahrenheit numbers as Celsius - many do.
Here is an extract from a government(?) report on Lithium battery fires:
In an uncontrolled failure of the battery, all that energy and heat increases the hazard risks in terms of fuelling a potential fire. The heat from lithium-ion battery failures can reach up to 400 degrees Celsius in just a matter of seconds, with peak fire temperatures being higher than this.
Peak temperature in excess of 400 Celsius? Yes but not as hot as an oxy-acetylene flame? I would not expect a report to just say “ being higher” if it was over 7 times higher!
Lithium melts at 180 degrees and has already boiled by the time you might get to 3000 degrees. Yep, it boils at 1350 C. Steel melts at around 1500 C.
Exactly how many of your Lithium powered tools, phones, etc have burst into flames? I know that thousands of BEVs have been recalled for a battery change, because of manufacturing faults. It happens. None in the last year, I think. The manufacturers are learning fast. Much, much faster thansomemost of the BEV opponents.
I insured my vehicle against loss. The premium was not that exorbitant (about the same as the Peugeot 607, actually). I take sensible precautions with my BEV. My home is insured, too.
I suspect numbers of electric cars are higher in London due to congestion charging.
Charging cars inside a commercial garage putting fire risk, trailing leads etc to one side….while the car is charging, your not working in it, so you in effect have non productive floor space with an overhead cost, makes complete sense to charge it outside in cheaper space and use inside side space to produce revenue.
Fuel lines rupture and fuel then spreads though, and goes very quickly - which was in a report I stuck further up thread.
Probably nothing to worry about then…I struggle to get derv alight when I want a bonfire - end up using petrol or thinners to get it started.
Kero works well (much lower flashpoint than diesel). I probably shouldn't have my parts washer filled with the stuffI struggle to get derv alight when I want a bonfire - end up using petrol or thinners to get it started.
Probably nothing to worry about then…

What the hell are BMW using as a fluid to cool the EGR I wonder? Weird to have a flammable agent as the coolant?Probably nothing to worry about then…

Ah, so its regen of DPF, not EGR fluids igniting that's the issue then?DPF's over heat... Common!
Supprised no body has been killed parking on dry grass/off road in summer when Derv car has been in regen.

(Only engines I've done anything with that had a cooled EGR was a Stage V JCB 6-cyl Dieselmax engine.... & the EGR on that is cooled by the engine coolant - which is definitely not flammable!).
Who'd buy a BMW these days? Apart from the fires & the "not my problem" attitude - IMO the Marque has been trading on past reputation & quality that their recent stuff doesn't have.
Badge cachet & image I suspect - it's weirdly important to some folk, where I really don't care as long as it does the job.I would not own a BMW myself - I spend most of my days working on them - people love them - they really do!
Oh come on! when have you ever seen a BMW offroad, other than in a ditch in mildly slippery conditions?DPF's over heat... Common!
