Multiple suspension wear - 4x tyres - unsuported cabling everywhere and mulitiple lighting problems.
These Teslas have the build quality of a Trabant/Simca - I kid you not....

And they don’t have any servicing requirements to maintain the warranty, so the MOT is basically a service inspection. If I had one I could easily go 75k miles before it even got looked at (I do 25k a year)
There's the answer to the intelligence/informed superiority of the Norwegians (looks like all of a sudden EV ownership is a barometer for a higher IQ in some people eyes.
Surprise! The Norwegians are mass adopting EV's because of a 3-pronged approach:
1. Invest heavily in charging infrastructure, & facilitate owners being able to home charge.
Now the biggies:
2. Provide massive cash & benefits incentives to make the EV price attractive (25% cost-cut in the VAT exemption, plus a raft of other financial sweeteners.
3. Hit the ICE super-hard with cost penalties to make it financially a very unattractive purchase and operating cost.
Our Norse folks aren't smarter - they've been pretty much given no option but to adopt the EV - and their Govt has done a lot to drive the EV in, and the ICE out with financial incentives.
If (big IF) it was s lot cheaper and more affordable to go EV in the UK, and the Govt had provided the much more comprehensive charge network & benefits that the Norwegians have.... then we'd probably see a similar adoption rate here.... but they haven't.
Yet someone seems to think that this makes those feelings us who aren't adopting the UK EV - to be frankly, a bit thick.
The EV here is significantly more expensive to buy than the ICE, and the price is WAY too high for a lot (most??) UK motorists to afford. So the situation & financial decisions for a Norwegian motorist & the UK motorist- are chalk & cheese.
I reckon if the Norse had our situation - that a lot of them might just rather less intelligent-seeming to our intrepid EV-driving, tub-thumping keyboard warrior.
I'd love to see anyone with that opinion, say so directly to some ICE drivers face-to-face, not from the keyboard. I rather suspect it wouldn't end well

Going to take an awful lot of EVs in Norway to compensate for their massive export of fossil fuels I would have thought. Whats their fossil fuel wealth fund at these days .....$1 trillion+ and counting?

I dare say a nation can afford to subsidise EV's heavily & spend big on charging infrastructure & "go Green" - if you're funding it by selling fossil fuel to be consumed out-of-sight eh!
It's almost like Norway is one big EV in that respect.
It does have a certain ironic (hypocritical?) quality.

Give you the Trabant.
Simcas less so had a couple of Arondes & 2 X 1000 Rally all Hard driven only one GB rebuild on an Aronde de cokes were standard in the day, only remember 1 clutch as well both had blue flash engines would just get to !00mph
Have heard the Teslas are poor build quality and not that keen to look at warranty

The website is produced by Norsk elbilforening - Norwegian EV Association, so unlikely to be anything other than gushingly positive. Not exactly a balanced view and certainly won't be reflecting the views of all Norwegians. Interesting! It seems unlikely that all the VAT-free & myriad financial incentives aren't accurately reported though (nor the hikes in taxation and tariffs etc to dissuade the punter from the ICE). After all, they're all positives to an organisation invested in the EV & its promotion/adoption.

Interestingly (to me) whilst looking for info in the disparity between Norway & Sweden's BEV takeup (The Swede's pulled a subsidy payment), I found this info on EU7 and the proposed battery durability regs. What a surprise - govts expand the reasons they need to ensure that personal transport pays tax levies. The EV guys are paying a premium for the vehicle but getting some tax incentives and what-not to Sweden the deal..... but its only a "holiday" period - and already they are tee-ing up the vehicles & mechanisms to justify taxation - and all in the name of saving the planet, natch.

Vehicles and their fuel have always been a cash cow globally, with a shift in tech (and a helping hand from many govt's to push them down the road) there needs to be a shift in tax - another insidious example is the EU-mandated telematics 'to locate you in event of a collision', handily, it's also capable of being used as a 'pay per mile' and congestion zone tracker, some manufacturers are aiding and abetting this by offering plug-in telematics for older vehicles with a 'user interface' as a sop to convince the driver to give the manufacturer all their vehicle usage data for a pretty screen and journey stats.
Yep. Like the "Smart Meter" - sold on the "you can monitor your electricity use & save energy & money".
They don't mention the meters provide the mechanism to introduce multiple tariffs for different times of day, and to set Peak Load levels (so if you exceed a setpoint for say a 30-min period, you'll be charged at a higher tariff for the entire billing period), plus the remote ability to cut off your supply........
Plus, the Telematics on Plant & Machinery that's common now - sold on the benefits to the user like diagnostics and Tracking for Security..... but fail to mention that it gives the Mfr full usage and run hours data, service record for Warranty get-outs... plus of course the ability to shut-down the machine & disable it.
Your bank misses a payment deadline on the Finance - and your machine won't start. Payment goes through and Vroom, away she goes!
Big Brother, is alive & thriving, and controlling people increasingly through their dependence upon electronic devices.... & the man-on-the-street is aiding-and-abetting and colluding in this every day - by willingly adopting tech that will grab them by the danglies & squeeze in perpetuity.
It's happening - right now, yet to say so - the ignorant just dismiss it as the ravings of a Tinfoil hat-wearing nutter.

The overarching concern I have, is that we are running headlong into a single fuel policy, gas, oil, wood - all 'bad' ways of heating your home or food, only 'clean' electricity should be used, for everything. Its delivered to (mostly) where you need it but it's very difficult and expensive to be totally self-sufficient from the suppliers and government regulation. How long before a foreign state or others with an axe to grind (or even our own eco-loons) decide that taking out a few prime route pylons across the moors will further their cause? Sure, there's some like me that have generator standby facilities, some have solar, but most won't. Reliance on any single source of anything is bad IMO - We're always told a balanced diet, lifestyle etc. etc. is good for you and 'diversity' in everything is how we should approach life. Not fuel it seems.

Absolutely - & that's without the iron-grip on your nadgers & no option but to accept the tariffs and conditions for electricity to run your home AND your transport.
Industry have been on Peak-Load Tariff energy metering for years already, with tariff bands that increase the unit rate as your usage breaches set thresholds (which of course the Smart Meter facilitates in every home as well).
The Meter records the peak usage over any 30-min period, and that peak determines the tariff you pay..... for every unit used that month!
(So processes that have short but high peak loads get hammered on the rate for every unit. I quoted lots of firms for Generators - they were looking to "peak-lop" by running the short-duration high-demand parts of the process off a genny, as the resultant removal of the peak dropped their mains tariff into a lower band and saved money).

You wake up in the morning one day and oddly the lights don't work..smart meter has shut down overnight...call them after work I guess. Get in your EV and it won't start...geez...will have to get the bus to work.
