Nice work. I can achieve mirror finish but not for my machines. I like clean castings and a nice finish where needed.
Just a question guys. OK...the shaper cube was painted inside by myself years ago but unfortunately I forgot to put it in my chemical cleaning tank when I was paint stripping the rest of the parts. It's currently red oxide primer. Can I go over this with the zinc phosphate primer I use or go straight in with the enamel top coat.

“No -one would think it odd” ?? I suspect anyone looking at this in the future will think it’s very, very, odd - since they never came from the factory as well prepared. A labour of love indeed.I'd tp coat over the red oxide especially since it looks to be in such good condition. Any variation in shade from having the red primer could be attributed to being in an enclosed space, so no-one would think it odd.
Apart from that it's normal to see just red paint on the inside of machine parts.
I painted it a few years ago. I will top coat with the ferguson grey enamel as said if there is colour change due to the red being darker to start with its not going to be visible. It would do my head in everything being one colour and inside the cube being red. Would loose sleep lolMy Alba shaper is red inside the cube, so it may be a factory thing.
I haven't slept good for years. A few years ago it didn't matter so much...but its different now..You mean it was ok a few years ago but it isn't now? Otherwise how on earth have you slept all those years?
