That is what I have ordered, after reading the reviews (and setting a strict budget) it seems to be the best regarded budget cost printer and has a pretty good print area. There are some Ender 10 units around for about £100 more, but decided to show a bit of restraint and have a play with the lower cost one before embarking on spending too much money.

No I never did work it out but I am home and have a large screen so will look now.
To be honest I have been struggling with depression these last two weeks caused by people trying to help ....sadly......and I know I am struggling but I am just trying to kick myself out of it.

Bit ironic i have had to take the bed off to sort the connections, and now i have to reset nozzle height knowing i will need to level the bed again as i am printing wingnut covers.
Any suggestions on raising or lowering nozzle height to get a better finish. Top is printing great but trying to print without a brim is not quite right yet.

Looking at your first pic I'd say you need to get the bed closer. You really need to squish the material to get good adhesion and smoother surface.
This could be achieved with increased flow rate on the initial layer too but best to calibrate height first.
Having the bed too tight can make the material stick to the nozzle and be dragged over the surface leaving a poor Finnish and lumps every here and there.
You're doing good, it really takes a lot of trial and error to get a good understanding of this black magic art....
I'm lucky enough not having to pay for filament from my own pocket so I can afford throwing away a bunch of failed prints knowing I learn something from all of them.
Ordered some free sample textured filament today that is supposed to hide the layers which will be next trials.

i do realise its a minefield so i am trying to sort issues out slowly but learning by them. Those are wingbut adjusters which already make adjusting the bed easier. Together with my adjustable z axis stop it makes it easier to adjust while learning.Main thing i have learnt is to ensure z axis i level or its worse than having a very unlevel bed.
My main issue is i cant find any stl files for bed levelling that i can actually print. The ones i want have 5 or 7 blocks 0.1 high about 20cm square but have a strange name at the end and they slice but dont print.....its called parametric in brackets.....not sure what that means but non of those ever print for me.

ok lots of research and still no exact answer but it appears there is no way of adjusting Z offset unless you use a raft. There was a plugin but again it seems to only work with a raft...not to adjust each profile for different material.

printing rafts will give a level in a couple of layers and then continue to print the model on that level surface
I'm only printing PLA so I don't need to save Z offsets in material profiles
I levelled the bed as per the instructions PDF and video of assembly on YouTube (I think that was in it too)
I've only had to relevel when moving the printer, so now the printer is screwed down on MDF
When the two outer heat bed terminals went i soldered to the existing pins, not removed them as per many how tos so no removing the bed.
Set it up once with your chosen print surface be it tape or some build plate and call it done barring a very rare occasional check / tweak
I added spade connectors to the bed as the guy i had it off had used spades BUT had left the original 6 pins. 1 had broken of each end so i cut the pins and plastic leaving just the hotend heating connector. Soldered male spades to the bed and its mint now.
My micro z axis mod is a time saver and now i know why the parametric pads had no gcode i am happy...for now.
I am currently printing a center spool adapter so i can use the cel robox filament i have..
So......will keep you posted.
I tried a raft when printing the cel robox adapter. (It was actually the wrong way, it allows normal reels on a cel robox not robox reels on a normal printer. Lol)
Anyway i used 0.4 for layer height which i have not used before and when the raft came of it seems to have split at the wrong place. And the raft seems to have printed better than the rest... lol
I've never used 0.4 layer, Cura warns me against using a layer as big as nozzle.
Raft should normally cover the unsupported printed area? Unless you are hugely out of level a raft should solve your levelling problems.
On the whole I think you're reading lots of ways to solve problems that should not need solving out of the box with these printers which must be frustrating.
The newer cura did not give me favourable results so because I have not found a need for any of those new features yet I just went back to the cura that the printer setup guide showed me how to setup for the printer, because my aim is to make stuff not become an A8 or Cura expert.
I'm just using green frog tape on the heatbed, levelled with A4, no nozzle offsets. No X or Y offsets as I printed switch mounts to do that
Only time I had an adhesion problem was printing small footprint items with no brim after going from the manufacturer's original bed tape which was awesome and I cannot find (according to my mate a common new A8 owner forum issue).
Hope you find some solutions that work soon.
