I've seen dire warnings of the dangers of welding fuel tanks: how did you do it?
Just a patch of mis-matched blue on the underneath of the tank, no biggy. I could have made up some bungs and pressure tested with air and some washing up liquid, but I didn't! I would if I did it again, particularly if it was a tank that was hard to get at once installed.What a shame. Hope it did not spoil the paint work. Could you have not air pressure tested it before painting?

Seriously, diesel is not that volatile and its flash point a lot higher than petrol.
