The whole naming scheme seems pretty random to me.

The engine access thing is odd. Access to the rear through the side panels is good and access to the front is really poor. If they had made the engine cover in the cab hinged or removable it would have been excellent but they didn't. The only access is though the gear lever hole and a small removable panel on top. Shame really.

It's because it changed. Carjam tells me that UK6409 (the yellow one I posted) is a 1965 Bedford KH. KH's became TK's as this page shows:

HeHe yeah untill you are doing it at the side of a busy motorway with a storm suit on !!many the time I had to hold on to the engine to save being sucked out !! when acoach went by at 100mph and lifting cylinder heads out on your own with a box van was a bit difficult.
We used to whip the cab off quite quickly we had a railway sleeper covered in rubber, open both the doors put the sleeper on and across the seats then a big wide strap along under the sleeper then up to the central cranes hook, lifting the cab by the roof /door surround joint, it was 4x 5/8dia 6" long mounting bolts plus big multi plug down by the steering and steering columb joint and gear stick rubber IIRC
OH and the small matter of the mobile crane we had to whip the cab off. then if it was staying off for engine repairs etc a frame to drop the cab onto .

Do you have a parts list for the CF, out of interest? I have some seat covers with part number 7200919 on them, but so far all I've been able to verify is that they're not any of the Viva range (including HA van) and not CA. I tried contacting a van club in the UK but I haven't heard back from them.

The nice new door handles can also be found on an Aston Martin DB5 I am told,

You might have seen my Firenza around, I do a lot of shows in the North West and have done Bodelwyddan Castle a few times. I've got a Sportshatch like that, but it hasn't been out yet. I know of one that's just arrived in North Wales to be restored and another up that way that I thought was dormant, but there are very few around. Not normally black, by the way, it's a very dark red colour that everyone thinks is black, known as "Extra Dark Wine".

I don't know why I wrote CF there, I meant TK. Or any Vauxhall / Bedford parts list from the late sixties or early seventies that might contain that number.

I've been reading the tutorials on this site and watching a lot of YouTube, playing with my new toy



Another brilliant resource (which you probably all already know about) is Jodie on YouTube's weldingtipsandtricks - some really useful stuff there. I was getting a lot of flashing through my auto helmet and in a discussion on the subject he mentioned that older helmets don't work so well with the new inverter machines and that helmets are rather like computers : you have to replace them with something newer from time to time. So I treated myself to a new one


It even has a control panel inside


The difference is dramatic! The view is much clearer and no more flashing. This one has proper replaceable batteries - I had to butcher the old one when the batteries failed.

Finally got the parts that were stuck in customs over Christmas and started putting the rear brakes back together.

New adjusters installed with a tool I prepared earlier


then cleaned and assembled with new wheel cylinders
