BOC and Volkszone - Gas Offer

Just got an email with my Boc account number, so i'm all set to go now.
Prices I was given as of yesterday
Argoshield Light size Y is 25.60 gas price, surcharge 1.31p, rental £37.40 per year

Pureshield Argon size Y is 31.34 gas price, surcharge 1.31p, rental £54.00 per year

All prices exclude VAT

Its something in the UK we have to pay on anything we buy unless we are a business and VAT registered and we can claim it back. The government still gets its 20% as YOU have to charge VAT on anything you SELL if you are VAT registered.

It does not matter for VAT as you are not VAT registered you CANT charge VAT. You should however pay tax on the profit from what you sell. That said a few hundred quid is neither here nor there, unless its a business.

i know that.
i do some money on the site and never will calculate it this money.
if i did i will support govement.bit here bit there and you ending up with nice amount of money.
not gonna VAT`ing that. no way.
i reckon profit of selling private things need to be quite a big to start thinking about paying VAT of that.

No, I assumed you were flogging stuff as that is what you indicated above. Your earlier posts about gas did say you would be using 8 hours worth a week, which is a fair bit of hobby welding though. But as long as the rest of us pay our tax and keep the schools and hospitals open then that's OK, I'm sure you will be fine.

just got a first refill from boc gas volkzone offer

the price for refill was cash over the counter

32.29 total including vat

argo shield light 26.91 + vat 5.38 = 32.29

however wont be long before im back there again for another bottle

You need to call the BOC head office, they'll set up an account with you (then you can go collect from your local depot) and can give you the prices, or you may find them further back in this thread.

Pure argon tends to be about £10 dearer on the rental followed by a few quid extra per refill. As said; it's best to arrange the account with head office so they can fax the agreement through to your local outlet as few staff members at local level know anything about it.

May be too late by now, but local branches often aren't even aware of the offer!
That's why you need to speak to the head office who set up the account and send the details to your local branch, that way you get the right price.

i rang the head office on 0800 111 333

and they took my details then called me back ,
they knew about the v/s discount without me telling them,
they filled the forms in online ,then emailed them to me,
i will take them, to our BOC depot 1 mile away where they will supply me with the gas,


argon light .. argon/co2/oxygen mix...

20l litre bottle filled to 230 bar ...

gas £31.80
rental £46.44
climate tax..£1.63


£ 79 to walk away with the gas....




A. 20l bottle ..rent free from SGS is

bottle deposit 65

gas is filled at 137 bar ....
