BOC and Volkszone - Gas Offer

My local supplier just told me they only do the new style bottles & my old regulator wont fit. So what reg do I need for a new oxygen bottle?

Are they the Genie type cylinders or the new 300 bar cylinders

He didn't specify, just that they were the new type & that older regulators wouldn't fit. It was a size Y I was enquiring about if that makes any odds.

Thanks. I will see what they have through the week. Any idea on the rental for the bigger oxy bottle? size W I think? Also if I get a bottle, use it for a month then return it do I have to pay a full years rental even if I dont take another?

I'm nearly to the stage where I need a replacement cylinder, but I originally went to a BOC Gas and Gear depot. Has anyone got exchange cylinders from BOC agents on the same deal. if they do them there is one a couple of miles away from me which means I wont have to take 1/2 a day off work to go to BOC.

which one do you use ? as the one near me is thornton rd 4 lane ends bradford

all i do is exchange the bottle there as main depot

thats where I went for my cylinders but there is an agent called Frank Langfield in Sowerby Bridge which will be more convenient for me.

Thanks. I will take up the hobby deal, but I have a fair bit of heating & cutting to do & happen to have a 47kg bottle of propane to use up before I change over to the hobby deal for both oxygen & acetylene. That's the only reason for thinking that getting a big bottle of oxygen would save me running back and forth for Y size refill's till the propane is gone.

Unless you need the acetylene stick with the propane, it's nearly as hot and far cheaper.

I was just going to go with acetylene due to the hobby deal. I suppose I could get shot of the big propane bottle when its used up and just get a smaller more manageable one & stick with oxy propane. That would save me having to buy acetylene hose & regulator etc.

You can refill your propane cylinder or a smaller one with Autogas using an adaptor.

Yes, its the exchange handling charge that makes it expensive.
I have a 3.9kg cylinder that costs me about £3 to fill or I can exchange the cylinder for £15.99!

I have an account (volkzone offer) with Boc for my pure shield, i'm getting myself a mig welder an will need a bottle of argo shield. Can i just go to where i get my gas from an take a bottle an it will automaticaly put on my account (gas rental,refill) or will i have to order it in? They usually have plenty in stock at shop cheers

Yes, essentially you just go in and add it to your account.

I've just signed up for this must say how easy I found it people at BOC very helpful should de sorted by Monday hopefully be picking it up Tuesday.
