Hush these ideas. This is migwelding forum. Those pins are worn, and you need a lathe to make new ones. A big old English bench vice and an angle bender wouldn’t hurt, either.

But, if I mig weld a brace between the straps, all well be well. Won't it?

If the lathe is Austrian, does it count? The vice is from Sheffield, is that still in England?

More scale removal today, noisy job, but done.

I ran out of wire. Frustrating, and none available locally. But, did get some done.

can i ask why your fitting that where you have done and is there any reason for it being there



as a jacking point its pretty useless as there no strength to those bars even to lift it if you had of fitted it where the beam is under the down member i might have said yes a good point for forklift or straps to be used

I'm becoming unhinged. Straightening these took far too long. And was far too much work.

My alignment jig was minimalist.

They look misaligned, it's an optical illusion, they are lined up to within 2mm.

And that concludes the welding. Tomorrow, weather permitting, I'll tart up the welds while management gets wirebrushing the paint off.

Can one hire a thicknesser? The teak panels are slightly uneven on the back, and will leave gaps when on the wall.

Which will bother me.

So I'd like to even then up, and was thinking a thicknesser might cope. The wood is decades of and very hard/brittle.

And possibly has nails, though I'm thorough.

better check the price of new blades as you are going to need alot of them if you do

a piece of plyboard makes this one better as it keeps it straight for when your sliding it

there is planner ones as well

Ummmm, I've fifty or so of these to do. Not sure a router would cut it.
