have a little space between the foam and the wood as it will sweat
if you want to space it right use use some d bead plastic and space it out a little its cheap in 5m lengths

this will allow a little air flow in the hut and if you have it ported out at top it will be fine same with if you have it the same on the rear side it will allow it to breath

this is your choice if you want to use it or not

its just plastic molding in a d shape used on window trims and acrhitrive

as its plastic it wont rot

That's ideal. I'll see what my DIY shop has like that. Or would Travis Perkins sell it?

Or I could just use the rip saw to rip some strips of the sheet plastic that's cluttering up the workshop.

I was going to just fold the back doors or of the way, and ignore them, but I'm now thinking I'll take them off, gives me more options in some ways.

Anyone got clever ideas on taking the pins out of these? I can do brutal and excessive violence, just wondering if there was an easier way?

the one to the right apears it can be tapped up so ipn should come out

the left one you may have to grind off the lug and then tap the pin up

security hinges are weld pins and need to be grinded off before tapping the pin out all you need is something thin enough to tap the pin high enough to get a grip under the lug then wiggle it out or tap a hammer under the pliers to pull/push pin higher

do it when the doors are closed when they drop they can be heavy

if they are held within angle iron closers its you can edge them to the right before getting a good grip on them

proper doors like fire doors need wedging as they are so heavy and when they are dropped or hinges unscrewed they can get out of control to easily

Do you have an air hammer? Sometimes works better than heavy whacks.

Usual rules apply - heat the outside and penetrate it with ATF / Acetone mix as long as possible beforehand

I'd like to keep destruction to a minimum, so will see what's holding the pins in first.

becareful with a air hammer the pin is hard enough but a nail punch is harder and you can dome the nail really easily

even ive swapped to normal nails to hit pins out as i dont want that pin damaging or dome heading inside of those hinges

if you do get it to move get it shifted so far and then tap up with a flat blade and a hammer or as i use often a pair of pliers and hit the pliers close to the pin just to pull push that pin higher

best to do the bottem one first then the top

Once I get it moving I can get some oil in there, or citric acid. And I'm happy to leave it for a week to work loose.

If you have a pointy chisel for the air hammer use that.

I have a short one which I use on ball joints etc. you could always drill a simple in the end of the pin to seat the driver?

jack the door. take the stress/strain off the hinges. pin will come out easier. clean it up, drift it out.

I took the easy option, cut the nuts off and leave the hinges.

Got a lot done today, all the old stuff finally removed and a lot of the extra bits of steel have been cut away. Next week we'll strip the rust and loose paint. Then get patching and welding. Weather permitting we'll get paint on next weekend.

im surprised that you didnt take those doors off right near the start of this renovation

as thats the first thing i would have done as its less weight to deal with in the first place and it would have made the whole job alot easier

but while them doors are off try getting at those pins as its better now while theres no weight on them and replace them with new pins
