Still, it might clear up. I've taken the clamps off, and I'm very pleased.

I was worried that the oil would stick to the clamps, and lift. But all is good.

can you show an inside pic or the inside of the door pic

the only thing im worried about is the collection of water on the door frame, its why i suggested the stable door reference as it has no collection point of water running down the door

It's a real concern. I'll do something about it. Cavity or underbody wax at the very least. Though several layers of decent paint should help.

There's more work to be done on these, but not for a bit.

The reason I'm not doing the inner of these doors yet is that I need to fit the inner door set first, to see what clearance I've to play with.

Which means fitting the floor.

I also want to clear the floor boards out of my garage......

Sealing the back wall was as awkward as I expected.

The first section was awful, the mastic tape had turned into super sticky stuff. I honestly thought I was a reverse Spiderman, the way that stuff stuck to me.
But the rest was in good shape.

I cut up some offcuts and slid them into the groove, but they were too deep, so I had to shorten the tongue as well. All with a hand saw, as the circular saw just made razer edge confetti...

But, after a lot of work, duck tape as spare hands, cursing, it all slipped into place, and all that has to be done is to bolt it up and clean up.

On the floor joist issue, I think I'll go with super noggins, with a notch for another joist. Mainly as I have some suitable timber surplus.

Alas, I've no 3x3 timber.


I do have some 6x2, which I want rid of, and exactly enough for lots of deep noggins.

So, that's the plan.

I'll need a couple of additional joists, but not many.

I'll have a go at this tomorrow.

Is creosote the best long term wood preservative still? Genuine stuff.

I'd use creosote but I've got lots of it! Not convinced it's like it used to be though, don't forget it will stink for ages especially in an enclosed space

Management is happy with the stink. I might put plastic over the joists to prevent the creosote soaking into the fancy floor.

A good testing night of rain last night.

There is a leak. But nothing as bad as before. It's just at the upright, where rain runs down the steel and behind the cladding at the base.

I think that the structure is inherently prone to leaks. Unless there's a solid piece of material pressing against the top of the rail, moisture will run in.

So, I'm happy enough. In the summer I'll put a bead of sealant along the uprights, that should stop it.

I'll also get that rail soused in underbody wax before I put the floor in.
