Second coat of oil, after sanding yesterday's repairs.

It will take a long time to get these done, as I'm leaving 48 hours to dry before turning over. I'll third coat tomorrow, and then a fourth on Wednesday. Then turn on Friday. Hopefully I'll be able to start a second door tomorrow, I think they are straightening out a bit.

I think the doors will take time to straighten. I'm concerned I'll have to build a steam box to get them right, which would be a pain, so I'm leaving them under pressure this weekend.

Which means I need to do something else this weekend, so will start slabbing.

Thankfully management found some slates, apparently people use them as tablemats? These arrived today and need only a bit of trimming to fit into the manifest holder brackets.

Interesting anecdote:

When my dad was a child growing up on the farm he used to load wagons like these with sugar beat (turnip like root vegetables that were processed to make sugar, for those who don't know). He recalls his father always double checking that the documents were secure in the manifest holders otherwise they'd not get paid.

Got any good links for plasterboard work? Taping? Inside corners? What stuff to use?

As the weather is picking up, but damp, why can't I leave the doors outside to straighten? Weighted and all that.

plastering tape isnt what i use and neither does the plasterer

scrim tape is what we use

it also depends on what your doing with the surface

plasterboard has a dip in the material so you can join with scrim tape and do a thin scim of plaster at the joints ready for papering
alternative is a full wall scim which is what i do

both methods are different

i think you want the drywall method as it just does the joints

all you do is plaster between the dip of the plasterboards and go over the gap

Just use decorators caulk down the internal corners and get some decent drywall joint filler for your flat joints

What's best practice on concealed cables? Metal channel? Oval pvc? I'm going to hide a few wires behind the plasterboard.

Got bored, so fitted the one good mostly finished door.

And, am going to focus on preparing to slab. Get everything right. I've not got space to store many slabs, so will be buying one out two at a time.

I'm fairly certain I'm not sure I know what I'm doing. I think my plan is okay, but I need to sleep on it.

I think the doors delay is messing with my head, and that's upsetting my flow. But I think that I've to get the doors done before I can slab this.

And also the rafters. They need to be right.

But I think that's it.

The insulation is messing with the bolt alignment in the corners, so I've to do the wooden walls first, which means the doors have to be done.

All good fun. 3 of the 4 doors are straight now. So that's good news.

Thinking about electrics, if I plug this wagon in to a 16amp RCbo socket, like, say ,a caravan hook up, and I sink an earth rod in beside and earth it, do I need a consumer unit inside it?

The mains is very old TT, and the wagon is beside a watercourse that runs beside the grid transformer station.

It would save a lot of farting about and an ugly box on the wall.

id fit them anyway as an extra precaution

This isn't an area I know much about, so please humour me.. I've noticed EV car chargers have what appears to be a small consumer unit fitted externally. Would it be possible to fit one of these external units, tucked out of view around the back of the wagon?

Some success on the bowed door. It's now just bowed on one side. I've repositioned the truck wheels.

The varnish goes on nice but I'm seeing a significant variation in colour, which might annoy me, not sure.
