Just make sure the slate is visible from the kitchen window so you can see the station masters message "coffee, white, no sugar"

The inner doors still have a slight warp, so I've clamped them warped the other way. I think it's working, as the warp is less obvious after being left overnight.

I had hoped the warped door would be right by now. No joy, getting better each time but a while to go.

In the meantime I'm doing the roof.

Surplus fixings removed.

And I decided I don't like the repair to the beam.

So I'll make a proper repair from some nice wood, with decent grain.

And scarf it in.

And I'm sanding the wooden roof, we'll put something off-white on that. Going to be good...

I have to say that this is not being refurbished to the same standards that were applied when first built.

Yep, it will do, through.

I'm gap filling the roof. Satisfying, for about 30 seconds.

id have insulated that roof and reboarded below the bars in full length pieces

Why?

You'd make the roof very low, and it's got recent wooden boards, insulation and a recent corrugated steel roof on top. I don't think it needs any more.

Plus you'd lose the visual impact of the steel and wooden beams.

Speaking of wooden beams, the glue has set so I've started bashing the repair piece into shape.



Long way to get it tidy, but it's a start.

It's also dark, which is why this photo of the two paint samples is useless. Apparently one is too light, and the other too dark.

Crown paint have stopped making coloured woodwork paint. That I can see anyway. That's a real shame.

Not buying Dulux, never got on with it. So what's left?

I'll probably do a second coat after the wood has been done.
