Make it all on site and CE marking doesn't apply. Shows how worried they are about the actual welding bit.
That's a bit stiff. It's quite likely they won't go bust if they don't do it as most haven'tYour instructor wants your firm to go bankrupt?
EN1090 states that when no EXC has been specced by the client (this is 95% of the cases), EXC2 applies.

but currently every building inspector I have spoken to just wants stuff to spec as we always did it
With a great deal of respect to the Building Inspectors on here, the odd ones i come across wouldn't know BS1090 if it smacked them on the ****.
Them asking for 'stuff to spec' doesn't get you away from the fact that structural steelwork should be to BS1090.
BS or EN?
surely theres a specific criteria relating to the type of building/usage rather than assumption.Your instructor wants your firm to go bankrupt?

Can you all see the funny side the guys that are actively doing it can't even agree the correct number codes of it
Ive been getting my steel supplier to do all structural steels , I measure , send drawings and they do the job , then I fit it . they send me Certs , I pass them on , job done . I may not be earning as much but then I dont do all that humping either ! The only building inspector to ask for all Certs is from Harrow Council , they know what they`re doing !
There is a whole interesting side point going on and a bit of joshing about don't hurt no oneI expect they have better things to do, like getting on with the job as best they can.
