Cheap 3" mini grinders

My 2 turned up today, one set aside as a xmas pressy, the other was manhandled a bit tried the disc on and it vibrated quite a bit, put a battery on charge, that took about 2 hours and then got my Milwaukee roloc adapter out to check threads, i could knock something up if i need too, 5 to 6mm. But i have 2 off them so not much point

Mines arrived too, ordered Yellow got Orange which is better for me as it matches my screwdrivers!
I will find something to chop tomorrow
Its just for occasional difficult access jobs

I've already sent a message to the seller questioning that point. They do appear to be a brushed motor, don't they.

Not only does mine sound like a bag of bolts it vibrates, the only reason they call it brushless is because they don't supply a brush ready for when bits start falling off it. Smooth running it is not!

I've already forgotten what mine sounds like, I'll have another look this afternoon. I don't recall it vibrating overly. I am starting to wonder whether it's the switch issue that causes it to stop, rather than a lack of power to overcome the resistance to cutting, though that might be wishful thinking.

If they are anything like the bosch version they need a good battery to get the best out of them.

Apparently the bosch brushless motor can use more power than the current bosh 12v batteries can deliver. They are supposed to be releasing a higher output 12v battery but I've not seen any sign of it yet.

Be nice to see an uprated 12V battery. It's long overdue. Their 12V tools are good as-is, but with a battery which has a bit more runtime & such, they'd be stellar.

All the brushless tool motors I have seen have 3 big wires running to the motor plus another few smaller wires.
Plus a controller.

You can feel a brushless motor by turning the disc. Brushless 'jump' between the magnetic gaps. Brushed rotate smoothly.

If yours is brushless and sparking like your video, then its fit for the bin!

That looks like a 550 style motor, perhaps the same as the parkside types. I'd suggest returning if you can and get a proper brushless. That said, the parkside one is quite useful, gets used often.

On that subject, months back I bought a cordless mini chainsaw, I thought it was brushless but mis read the advert. I was going to send it back however it has reasonably good power and a much larger, 775 style motor and for the price, it was worth it just for the batteries, no chance of burning it out I think. I would have liked a brushless one though...


To add, these 12v tools dont have variable speed and the motors are quite capable of running at 20v of a 5 cell battery, which should give a reasonable amount more power.

(I am after some parkside 20v battery to 12v tool adaptors.)

Could not see any brushes or armature looking through the slots.
The make up sugests brush though, only 2 wires into motor will look closer
