I still don't understand how you managed to get a 21 spline cv to fit a 22 spline shaft (or is it the other way around?)
It was a 22 spline cv onto a 21 shaft .... even my wife has asked if the new one has 21 splines... I'll never live it down ....
My best CV/stub axle purchase after rogering the threads getting the hub nut off, was one from Lithuania for my integrale - including postage it was £22 ! Turned up exactly as described, brand spanking new, originally made in Italy.
For the cost of one from Lancia specialists here in the UK, I could have driven to go get it myself and still saved money

I've welded shafts before, drilled, pinned and then welded and sleeved. There is no chance of it ever failing and it has has 200bhp put through it. More chance of the cv failing than the shaft so I'd be more than happy to do another one.I just wouldn't consider this unless it's by someone who is certified to do it. Was it Colin get those washers off my car Chapman that said making a car that disintegrates as it crosses the finish line is best for winning but not terribly robust in an accident ?I've also welded up hundreds of race spec suspension parts and I'm not coded. So far not 1 weld failure but parts are sold with no comeback due to race stresses etc.

Had that happen on a 1500 spitfire when the hub nut came off....by the looks of it the nyloc hub nut had been off for some time and wedged in the hub capHad that happen on my mums Mk2 Escort just before a rear wheel fell off!
