Well you never know I may be pleasantly surprised at the cost of the PCB but I am not holding out much hope. I suppose that is the chance you take buying a second hand welder or anything for that matter and my luck with stuff this last year has not been great

You could attempt a repair on the PCB if it proves not financially viable. It'll be teeny SMDs no doubt though

I have looked and looked at the PCB and can't see anything that looks burnt so no chance of me personally finding the problem.
I got a wiring diag from Callum showing what connects where with regards the wiring and although I know absolutely no German at all it kind of looks to me that it may be supposed to be Fan on Demand as one sensor mentions 50 deg, another 85 Deg and the final 140 Deg. The fans have always come on as soon as welding was started and stopped maybe 30 sec or a minute after welding stopped. I just thought that was normal but maybe not?

Certainly my wee Triton is FOD and I initially thought it broken because it never came on. I just had to push it harder and it did. Not sure if an industrial EWM is different or not.

I’m useless at this sort of thing and it’s just plain ol bad luck.
Some just die prematurely and despite it being nearly a decade in actual age it’s a premature death on one of those. I go into lots of fab and welding shops and I see ewm machines that are pretty much unrecognisable due to the day in day out abuse. Yours looks like it’s hardly done a days work so it’s just an unfortunate thing. I do hope they come back to you with a reasonable price on the board and you get thing to go another 10 years.

I think @6 milli billi should just send you a board free of charge for all the great things and publicity you’ve given ewm since owning that machine.
Even after a spell of bad luck your flying the ewm flag in positive light.
You post alot of positive info with videos on that machine for the whole world to see
Cmon Al, at least do him a great deal on that board and get him going again. Not many ewm owners on here post publicly as much as this man.

Yes this thing is like new when you look at the circuit boards etc. For example here is a pic I took the last day of the complete insides.

And a close up of the board that seems to be the problem one, looks like it was just made yesterday.

My fuzzy is like that. It just looks like someone has polished the boards off.
That’s a sign of a proper quality design the way those boards are just properly protected from dust.

Totally agree there, proper wind tunnel down past the heatsink and almost completely sealed off from the components.

I’m not mate I’m being absolutely serious.
It’s very difficult for a salesman representing a company to sell equipment especially of this value and especially with the level of competition in this game.
However real honest non bios reviews sell equipment better than anything. Obviously the brand ewm is well known and respected but so are many others. People all over the world researching pulsed migs will of come across your threads, seen your pics of the work you’ve done and the testing and macros etc. I can guarantee you now you have indirectly sold some ewms off the back of it. Hell I did some reviews on here when I first bought a weldtech speedway off Jim. He’s sold a good 4 or 5 more to others off the back of it and another 2 to me.
You deserve a great deal on that board imho mate.

Today I was using the R-Tech again, it is a decnt wee machine but man how I missed the synergic lines of the EWM, having to jump up and down off a ladder to adjust the voltage for different thicknesses/positions and I had forgotten how much of a pain it can be welding thin to thick Alu uphill with a standard Mig.

Yes, I managed for 30 plus years welding Alu without a pulse Mig so I can manage more.
If this one proves uneconomical to fix then I will certainly be getting another when funds allow.

I never said another EWM though
Although I must admit it probably would be, just it will be a while away before it happens.
