Yeah thats why i started out with the arc but i thought i would be able to just try abit get some advice and move on but its proving to be alot harder then i first thought yeah know if someone was local and willing to teach id grab the bull by the hornes so to speak i know alot of my problems are stemming from the work enviromeant its bitterly cold in my shed and terrible light and the rest is juat my lack of experiance 1 o do need the eyes over the shoulder lol even if i did have to travel that would be fine i can drive

Ah mate that woukd be great thank you really like another lad said i need proper teaching but not gonna happen right now so this fourm is god lol um what do mean dont quite get no 1. As for the rods im going to get some esab 3mm 7014s from screw fix and see how i get on with them the welder is set to between 90 and 120 amps but weld pool looks cold and wont spread then i loose the arc thrn stick the rod its all a horrible mess loolI've looked at this in a lot more detail.
1 your practicing right by running beads walking before running thingy
2 stick welding using cheap rods can have various results depending on manufacturer they use at the time
All machines run different or very in amps so if it looks cold up the amps slightly untill you can drag a rod along the steel with out it sticking or it going out, you should be able to run a rod gradually down in one smooth fluid motion if I get time and dad's not filled my shop full of rubbish again I'll do a demo with a transformer machine
