Thanks @tflnemesis , will try that link. I'm wondering if the extract fan position is wrong and too high up, as in taking heat away from the print area? You have I believe a similar 120mm fan you said but lower down in one of the corners, is that on the back or side of the enclosure?

We're limited with the enclosure sat on a desk as it is at the mo. Can't vent left or right or low down to the rear.

I might quickly knock up a ply "chimney" to go on the back wall of the case. The idea being that "damaging" heat from around the electronics and psu will be drawn in at the base through the "fireplace". Above the bed will stay nice and warm.

Hopefully it'll drag in any smell too.
No discernible smell last night whatsoever, fan on & using Steadytech ABS Pro.

On the test cubes above X is the face you see as you open the door. It's pretty good imo. Y is the real screw up face. It looks like the layers have been affected by "drag" whilst being put down. I'm betting that's the front to back air flow caused by the fan. Z should be "flatter" but it's not. The laying down of material is obviously helped by gravity but there appears to have been some slight "lifting". Again, betting caused by the fan.

The fan that affects your parts the most will be the part cooling fan that cools near the nozzle, whenever i print with ABS that fan is off.

ABS warps and warps more when it is cooled quickly so any overhangs where its printing in fresh air will curl up slightly causing the head to crash into it on the next pass or the filament to 'bleed' due to the extra pressure.. The part cooling fan will make it worse, causing the mess you have on the Y face

The slight curve on the Y face suggests that you might need to look at the belt tension on the Y(possibly X) axis.

The small gaps i can see in all faces might be due to retraction settings or sometimes a bad STL.

Unless you have got the exhaust fan moving huge volumes of air i doubt it will have that much effect on your print.

I am by no means an expert I just do this for fun and because i like tinkering but have some experience of most isssues when it comes to FDM printing.

Yes mate that's me. January him knows me as I purchased 2 of his Printers and I lent him the ender 2 back last week to design and print a custom mount for his anycubic 4 that had bitten the dust.
Just check the first few threads. I have also posted telling John to expect you.
It's John Pearson and he has definitely seen it as he is admin and needs to moderate all new threads. He just OKed it.....

Knocked up the "chimney" in some 9mm ply. Forgot there's a batten up top so forgot to notch the corners!

It, the chimney, is not sitting flat to the rear because of the batten but seems to be doing something. Printed a Benchy in blue Steadytech ABS Pro. Better but nowhere near as good as in PLA.

A window scraper blade holder:



It takes the 100mm blades from common window scrapers.

Swmbo has been doing some painting and wanted a holder for these blades she had found, the handle went walkabout years ago.

About an hour to fab up in fusion then 2.5 hours to print.

Somehow I managed to lose the original surround off SWMBOs petrol cap:

Lad did a quick print in PLA. Tbh it was a bit rough and stringy (which we need to investigate). Only had enough plastic primer to do the outside. Gave it a quick coat of blue over the top. Colour isn't perfect either. SWMBO well happy 'cos her liccle boy made it!

Looking good, stringing can usually be solved by retraction settings in your slicer.

I am printing with TPU at the moment and am having to suffer with a lot of stringing I am dialling it in with every print but I can guarantee by the time I get it right I will have either run out of it or be changing it out . I really need a second printer

My lad printed it with the outer face of the petrol cap on the bed. The central depression therefore needed support. That, the depression was the worst bit for seeing like an open weave (0.2mm layers) so I "filled" it as best as with first the plastic primer (didn't do a lot) then the blue paint and laid it on thick, with localised "squirts" to fill in blemishes. It'll do I suppose.

I suggested then he print it outer face up like in the above picture and tbh its 10x worse. Around the central hole is really quite dire. Photos later.

I tried joining FB only to get on a printing forum recommended to me. Something I swore I'll never do. Used a little used email and a made up user name. Gave no details for my profile. I really dont't want old "friends" and colleagues getting in touch. Simply couldn't give a toss about how they are "missing Nandos" or what their cat is doing. The very thought of inane interaction like that with no purpose makes me shudder. Everytime I logged on thereafter it was asking for a profile pic, where I went to school etc. Seems FB objected to my user name or something as within about 12 hours it had disabled my account! I've had to take a selfie and send my mobile for a verification text etc. Still waiting for approval or not. Hate it even more now.

I hate it as well BUT like ebay its become a necessary evil. I have tried every method I know to advertise Firesticks on facebook and although they fall short of banning the sale of ANY streaming device that is what they have effectively done. I do appreciate they dont have a clue about legal streaming where you pay a subscription like netflix etc so they just put a total review on anything that mentions Streaming. The usual way to beat their filters was to advertise the stick for 100 quid and offer a free gift. SO you would get 12 months viewing of everything. But they stopped that as well. Anyway I mentioned it as Android boxes are still allowed and they use exactly the same codes ......crazy really.

I was advertising them for 30 quid as we paid 20 quid for the sticks and they are back on special for a few days.....Ok so not a lot of profit but if I buy 10 and sell all for 30 thats 70 quid profit after paying tax for one drive to collect.
