3D printed a way cover for the cross slide on the lathe. Mine had a little sheet metal shield that just covered the cross screw. Later models of my lathe had an aluminium cover which covered the ways and screw.
This was my interpretation of the cover fitted to the later models. Designed so that the only bits that should ever touch the ways touch bits that the cross slide never runs on and has a bit of a step either side to prevent a gap that bits could get in (hence why it's wider than the cross slide).
It's not my best ever print as it clogged 11h in and I had to replace the nozzle, hack the gcode about and resume. Given that happened though I think it worked pretty well.
