3D printed a way cover for the cross slide on the lathe. Mine had a little sheet metal shield that just covered the cross screw. Later models of my lathe had an aluminium cover which covered the ways and screw.

This was my interpretation of the cover fitted to the later models. Designed so that the only bits that should ever touch the ways touch bits that the cross slide never runs on and has a bit of a step either side to prevent a gap that bits could get in (hence why it's wider than the cross slide).

It's not my best ever print as it clogged 11h in and I had to replace the nozzle, hack the gcode about and resume. Given that happened though I think it worked pretty well.

Need to mount some uprights at an angle for my welding cart project. As the weather made today a bit of a loss I decided to design and print some clamping brackets (or whatever you would call these).

File is fully parametric in fusion 360, so easy to modify and change angles as well.
It's quite stiff but doesn't do well when twisted (which makes sense given the design)
May add some stiffeners, but I don't think it's necessary.
If anyone wants it I can put the file up somewhere of bake an STL at any angle.

Can you send that off for generative design? Would be interesting to see and is the one feature I miss most now it's not in the free version.

I'm on the free version so I'm afraid not. Never used it when it was an option.
They are getting more and more restrictive with the free version which is a shame.

I needed to weld up some bearing holders, as they were awkwardly angled and partly recessed I 3D printed some holders to hold them well enough to tack things before obviously taking them off to do the proper welds.

I printed two as I figured they'd be destroyed after each attempt actually turns out I just needed the one. They survived remarkable well.

Similar idea, needed a way to align a broken off bit of roller to get it welded. A bit melty but survived pretty good!

I finished my Makita battery to Champion circular saw! (Finished the second set of parts to convert the BiL's one too). The saws were bought with two Nicad batteries and charger, in their own case, years ago, at 75% off marked price for £25 when A Focus/Do It All was closing. Never seen much use didn't have much grunt and the batteries died quickly. Not sure how well it will work or even last. (My previous attempt at converting the Rolson 18V grinder to work with 18V batteries looked like it was a winner until the tool burnt out). A quick video at this link:

I do note the saws no load speed is only around 2500rpm compared to say a modern Makita that runs at twice that. If cheap enough I guess I could try a gruntier motor from Banggood, AliExpress etc.

Duratool multitool, ripe for conversion to Makita power. The Makita battery actually slides part way in. If there was a bit more meat in the tool base I could have maybe modded that. As it stands I'll have to figure an adapter. Fire up the Vernier George!

Couple of ideas finally came to fruition. A roller frame to assist in cutting up a large diameter (366mm) tank and a cutting guide for the Axminster saw.

Mum's funeral today. Been ill for a while so tbh a welcome release. Covid finished her off in hospital.

Not really "for the workshop" other than for me to be able to get some camera setups in there.

Bought some modular hose ages ago and finally managed to successfully print some working unbroken adapters.

Left to right: GoPro bits (some OEM), Joby mounts, 1/4" 20 hose adapter, a replica hose module next to a real one, and a ball-base mounting post.

It's blurry because the glue I use on the glass bed got on the lens! Unblurry:

Super happy with how these came out, they need to be within 0.05mm or they won't work! I kid you not, too tight and the PETG explodes, too loose and they're all floppy.

I am most happy with this one:

Stops the first module from being too loose or becoming too loose over time like the first one I made above. I want all the flex in the hose and not right at the end joint. Works a treat!

Designed/made this to hold the iPhone for video because I couldn't find anything suitable. Has a flexture clip that holds it very firmly but also easy to clip in and out.

Has a 1/4" 20 thread in the base which allows a variety of mounting options for tripod, modular hose, GoPro etc.

Camera side. Arms miss all the buttons of course (unlike a lot of other clamps).

All I have to do now is shoot some video....

Did you print the iPad holder?

Or is it a phone holder. I am looking for an iPad holder with the smaller screw.

That's an iPhone (6S). I am thinking of doing a similar iPad version, probably also for the workshop. What size/version are you after?

The old Screwfix plastic packs come in handy when starting from scratch with these adapters. Along with of course the Vernier, the kids protractors etc.

Just printing the test piece to insert in the Duratool base. Hollowed out to save on material / time. Designed in AutoCAD by me. Sliced in Cura by the lad. The .stl opened in Fusion by the lad to generate these pretty renders. I'll round the edges off and graft it to the Makita bit later on:
