Heating oil increase this morning

That's not great analogy but I get that but I don't think you are understanding my point. The supply of electricity provided by renewables hasn't changed and if it had then it will have increased. If the electricity supplier is charging me a premium for the portion of electricity they buy that is generated by solar or wind then they don't have justification for telling my electricty is more expensive because gas and oil have gone up given they are selling me a notion that my electricity is not generated by fossil fuels.

Electricity is electricity. Green electricity comes with a certificate which guarantees its origins. Hence it is more expensive than non certificated electricity, if non green electricity goes up in price, the green stuff follows - why? Because the guys selling it get the same as other electricity, plus a bit for the regos (certificates).
Its not hard.

Yeah I get what your saying, I’m with a supposedly “green” supplier (octopus) but for the only reason that they are by far the cheapest supplier for my needs. The green thing is of no interest whatsoever, and I certainly wouldn’t be paying extra for it.

When you produce green electricity, you get a certificate for it. This guarantees only a certain amount exists, based on how many certificates exist. Now, there is an issue, to do with certain renewables that need non renewable energy to get them to market - notably pellet wood generated electricity. You could also argue I guess that any generation that uses ff to make it is not "green" and shouldn't get a certificate, but ultimately you take that up with ofgem.

A limit on the number of (Meaningless) "Certificates" they can issue?
Is there a Register of all the Green Customers with all Suppliers, so that Ofgen can ensure that Renewables Energy Sales cannot ever be over-subscribed and over-sold (I.e. the Collective Suppliers "Certify and Guarantee" to supply more Green Energy monthly/annually than is actually produced monthly/annually?

It's a system full of holes, fluff, Traders Puff's.... and now you try to justify it on the basis of "because I said so" and because an Energy Supplier issues a worthless Certificate

MM - you must be far more easily taken in...... ahem I mean trusting and accepting - of Sellers than I am then.

So, anyway.... my filter connection and stop tap has FINALLY arrived (thanks Royal Mail for your disruption). I have an empty 3500l tank. Fill now, part fill, wait for a bit. I am tempted to fill now but what do those with crystal balls think here? 2500l will prob see me to spring.

Getting quotes of just under 92ppl here from boilerjuice - my local suppliers always try it on at a few ppl more and you have to argue with them - frustrating as i setup an account with one on the assumption i would get access to their more favourable prices...

Your natural gas prices are something like 8x lower than ours
And the price you pay for petrol and diesel will always be far lower as you don't get taxed like we do.

Could only do 500 as when the original elec company went pop we got shoved to British A$$ , and they’ve messed up things from the start , making up readings , even though we enter them monthly , and as a thankyou they decided to take just over £500 when it should of been £140 . So left short of a fuel order . The company we use are pretty good to be fair and 1000L gets a better price .

Yes, it helps to have the largest supply of natural gas. even with the cutbacks.

Even though I am in south Somerset , near Ilminster , close to the Devon border I use a company in Honiton , Devon , https://www.southernfuels.co.uk/

They do have various depots around here , but some down as far a Collumpton . Worth giving them a call .
