That's with out glue..
If you look close there is a faint line on the top of the stainless Bush and it does indeed turn 90 degrees with the Bush on it.
Yes there is . But for some reason I have got it into my head it needs reboring after cutting slot to a bigger size...but can't see what size.
Is 23 the finished size?

Good thats the one...but I see it and then another one replaces it..I am guessing its a cache problem...
MMmmm yes I can see that on the photo. How many Mm would that be?
Also.how deep is the spiral cut.

3mm in then the spiral 3mm deep please.

Nearly there...that's the last cut of one side.
Better in the direction of cut.
Did not like reversing along it's own cut.
I did 0.5mm per pass.
But the second side was no where near as clean cutting. Lots of juddering. ( which I sort of expected it all to possibly be like.

Blown away here! @ukracer thanks a million for this, so pleased for a number of reasons. Particularly that it worked, vindication of the process! Another string to the 3D printing bow this afaic. Love the old meets new thing too. Who needs 4th axis / CNC? 
Seriously this I'm sure is more than great for what I need.
I must admit I did think it would catch going back up the cut.

I have really enjoyed doing it. I doubted myself to get it done in the time scale.
it was weird how one side chattered but the other was silky smooth. I would have loved to have @doubleboost ed it and filmed it all but I am not set up to do so and time was of the essence.
When you go back up to restart you have to be 100% you returned before backing out one time took a small chunk out of the entrance to the spiral.

Is is that noticeable?
Half a plan to TIG the 316 handle to it and sand blast the lot rather than going for polished/shiny. Don't knows if that'll hide or make the milling imperfection more or less noticeable? (I still can't see it).
The printed presentation case is going to take some more work. The inbuilt hinge is a fail though the test piece was good. This wood PLA is so much more fragile than normal. That and the hole is too small for the thing! Also it's top heavy and wants to fall over when you open the lid. Would be ok with the weight of the item in it. Still, it looks pretty "organic" and wood like with a grain effect.
If the hinge worked without dislodging after a couple of open/shuts and the thing fitted I might have had a crack at sanding and staining this.
