How have you found the ct90
Penny's just dropped. Postman carded me yesterday. Was baffled as I haven't ordered anything. Just remembered the sprayer you posted off. Il collect it Saturday

i will use more next time then, yeh I like the CT-90 it works well especially when the part has warmed up a bit too, smells ok too. much neater then my home brew mix!

yeh could be the sprayer do u have a small letter box then it is in a padded bag

Not particularly. Usual postman wedges all sorts through. Will find out saturday.
Mate out me into ct90 in a tin years ago. Always have a few about. Much cleaner than spraying it everywhere

Funny how these incidents stick in your mind until the end of time. It's called learning, I suppose

When you have a largish chuck key wiz past the side of your head at stupid speed and feel it ruffle your hair you never forget

it was always instilled in me at college never leave the key in the chuck and ive seen it done so I never ever have

I found CT-90 by accident, first lathe I bought was a Boxford in bits, made a stand, bought some tooling from RDG and a pot of CT-90 from a local engineering supplies as it was the only stuff they sold. I like it, have tried some other stuff over the years but keep going back to it

it was always instilled in me at college never leave the key in the chuck and ive seen it done so I never ever have

I don't and never have, it was a faulty clutch lever that caused it.

On the Harrison the motor is constantly running and you engage drive with the clutch lever.

From memory it was an ex Cam Gears lathe so had seen loads of action before the school got it

After that I always shut the motor off before inserting a chuck key and the workshop tech modified all of the chuck keys by fitting a spring loaded collar so the chuck key would eject itself if you tried to leave it in the chuck

Made a few spacers today weird the diameter seems to grow after parting them off and facing them off to size.

Maybe but I let them cool and they would not fit in the hole the tube fit before it was cut. So now I will take a thou off before i part them off

Are you measuring with valipers or a mic?

Digital calipers but it phisacly does not fit after i part it off I thought it was just a bur so files the edges but no

Use a mic. Calipers can give bad readings on round parts

I ordered a digital one last week I have a normal one somewhere ill dig it out

even still it dont fit in the hole that it fitted in as a 1m bar!

oh and Brad with the compound slide set at 45 degrees a tenth takes off .2mm

I don’t know if you’ve seen it but Guy Marting did a program about rebuilding a spitfire.
The pins that hold the wings in place are made to a real tight tolerance. Guy was holding the pin in his hand for 5 minutes talking to the camera, went to fit the pin, it had expanded by a few thou and wouldn’t fit the hole.

How tight are they clamped in the chuck as you may have taken them ever so slightly out of round? Also did you remove any burrs?

they were pretty tight in the chuck I didnt want them coming out they are only 5mm long! yes I faced them off and used a file on the edges good shout they could be out of round due to the chuck
