I have just purchased a Boxford Lathe

I have run the wire for the suds pub, I was going to just use the switch on the plug socket to turn it on and off but should I fit some kind of switch to the front of the lathe? If so what kind of switch?

Just a quick line after reading the posts earlier about coolant pumps etc. In the past I've used a pump up garden spray bottle with a coolant nozzle on the hose and a second container to collect the drain.

I do not have an original switch. I think a DPST switch would be better but I could get away with a single pole

I have this bit it seems ott for a wee suds pump. I will invest in a dp rocker switch

Is it worth while to install a none return valve down near the pump. Or is it not needed. The oil does run back once the pump is switched off

Probably not needed on a small machine, if the pump is half decent it will just take a fraction of a second to get the oil flying out and covering you

Surprised at that, fair enough it is neat rather than soluble oil but even still I would have expected it to be much faster.

There is a good meter or 8mm id hose so I guess it takes a while to fill that up.
