i'm pretty sold on these, and considering heading down to a LIDL on Sunday, but the huge put-off is the limited availability in stores, and outwith these times you'd be stuck with Ebay sellers taking the yellow liquid.

Yep exactly that, the stuff is "in season" like exotic fruit in Lidl and failing that you have the p*** takers on ebay

Might have been a dud, you should have sent it back and seen if they could do anything with it.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting it to be much good so when I was offered the money back I just snapped there hand off.

Any Lidl's near you in a better off area (not saying you live in a dump). I find the diy stuff doesn't sell out in the lidl's in the better places, no one is interested in drills and angle grinders, its all stuffed olives and the must have plonk they want.

I'll take a look in the Sevenoaks branch when I go to stock up on quinoa and manchego on Sunday. The only downside I find is the parking spaces are a tad tight for the Bentley...

There was an old boy driving a brand new Merc the last time i was in the Lidl near my sisters place. He must have been in his 90's and the merc has to have been the biggest model they do. I was having a titter at him trying to manoverure it around the carpark.

They re-sharpen ok

They are good plain hss, I have a 1-10mm set, but only the 10mm was ground split point, the rest were standard chisel. The set this week looks like only 1-8mm and mostly small bits, that is why its so cheap.

Don’t know about the drill bits but I’ve got a set of the step drills and they’ve been pretty decent for the money. Okay they are not competing with a set of proper branded ones, but for a fiver they have cut numerous holes in electrical panels and are still going strong.

Yup, i bought a set thinking they were going to be made of chocolate and useless, but was pleasantly surprised. Again, well worth the money.

Those angle grinders are cheap!

They are also rubbish. Just sold mine as could even cut through 2" box without battery going flat yet my parkside impact driver is fantastic.

There is a few of those, or was in my local lidl. I did have a butchers, but decided against it. They had a tig inverter and plasma cutter too.

I like two things about that vid:
1. No talking! A massive plus when it is self-evident.
2. A direct comparison of performance with and without gas.

I have the cordless grinder with a 2Ah - waste of money. Ok for 5 mins then just cuts out even using a flap disk. Not sure if it's worth the risk to buy a 4ah for it.

I wouldn't expect my current cordless grinder to run on a 2ah battery tbh. It came with a 4ah & it eats batteries! Might even get a 5ah one for some extra run time

The 4Ah lasts a good 4x longer, yes it is worth buying the proper battery. Problem is with the high current drawn by grinder, the voltage sags, which means power drops off, small battery sags a lot more.

This is the grinder, the guy has reviewed the other version.

Now this guy is an idiot. The power drops off and he is still pushing it well past time to charge the battery and let it cool down, but he kept going and burnt it out. Easy to burn out any lithium tool just push it hard and discharge a battery in a couple of minutes. Good thing with brush motors its easy to swap them with off the shelf motors and good as new.

Mine has had some abuse but you can tell when the motor is getting too hot, let it rest and it will last a long time
