A common mistake by many. There is no Lithium metal in Lithium ION batteries The term ‘ion‘ should be clear to everyone who knows anything about battery chemistry. These batteries are nothing remotely similar to lead/acid batteries - which do have metal plates and should never have lead in the electrolyte.
Lithium metal, at room temperature only reacts slowly with water - look up the trend in Group 1 of the Periodic Table - but the hydrogen released could, of course, be an explosion risk when mixed with oxygen.
I can edit and put lithium oxides / salts but it doesn't have same ring to it...
