hello stranger! cheersGood job Lee
had the same up here for the last 2 days and im doing a roof with people living in it
got to stage we all ache today after the last 2 days
so get the thing boarded and felted and then rafter laths to hold the felt down and its water proof for now and called it a day
That's my door 20 quid second hand footings have just been filled the Mrs was a great help she tamped whilst I mixed and poured
I would say if the ground is that solid then don't bother with the type one. Up to u on the 're bar. I used metal cages I hadOn the topic of bases, if I were to lay a 16' x 18' base, to take a wooden shed, no car will ever go in there, do I really need to do the 6" of MOT plus steel re bar, and all that, or would it be enough to just lay, say, 6" of concrete and be done?
Digging out a further 6" means getting another skip in, at £200, plus £40 per bag for MOT etc. The soil is chock full of pebbles and gravel too, a real pain to dig.
Today’s work.

Re base , if it is that hard to dig why not hire a wacker plate give it a good seeing to then shutter and pour concrete in sections ,

6" should be ample enough for your usage just fit rebar in and cement it up
are you doing blocks or bricks on the edges ?
if you are dig another 6" lower shovel width for a dual wall and that is enough for you
as goes for skips why didnt you sort your soil out and make a raised garden bed then get rid of your stones
dual wall meaning 2 brick walls or 2 concrete walls being built
I would suggest a single outline of brick, unless your base is well above ground level, and your shed overlaps base edges to keep water off the wood.
