Many years ago, in the mid to late '80s, I 'owned' this -




My Uncle moved into a overgrown farm and we found this 1941 Canadian Ford woodie model C11ADF in a tumbledown barn and another one outside only suitable for spare parts.
He gave it to me to restore as I was keen! I built a garage for it, but being 18 I realised it was out of my league and I let my Uncle sell it. I found out that it was really rare with only a couple of them in the country.

I didnt know where it went, but a couple of years ago I saw a pic on a hot rod forum and managed to track down the owner to see if it was the one I had, and it was!

Turns out that the present owners father bought it off my Uncle and started the restoration but it was finished by his son.



I havnt seen it yet but the owner does take it to shows, and I hope to see it soon.

Yeah, military staff car. This one was 2 wheel drive and flat head V8 but heavy duty running gear. They made a 4 wheel drive version the using Marmon-Harrington axles and gearbox.

I have been restoring one of these for the last year. Nearly there now as being furloughed sped things up. Its called a firefly and made by a company called onyx.

It was apparently in bad enough condition to just be easier to paint it all. This colour is what was used for the desert vehicles which is where this model was really destined for, therefore the 900/13" implement tyres.

Couple of cars/bikes from my parents garage. The bike is a Monet-Goyon, it's a 1920 I'm certain. The car is a Austin Swallow I think it's early 1930's. From what I remember these had custom bodies made for them, it's tiny and being the giant noodle that I am I can actually drive this much easier than anything other. We have a video of it somewhere. That was also imported from NZ.
The bottom one is a 1930 Chrysler. I'm sure the race one of these won was Le Mans. When they bought it they looked for one with the spoked wheels. In the race back in the day something happened where Bentley or Rolls Royce lent them to Chrysler and they went on to win said race. If I ask my parents I will find out. That was imported from America and is my Favorite but I find it really hard to drive with my long legs. I'm in it in the pic. Couple other cars I will see if I have pics of.

I think someone posted a photo of a twin port single 2 stroke Monet Goyon a few years back, lovely looking thing that gave me an idea for a Honda CG125 based replica.

I can't seem to find a pic of this out of the garage but it's I a Ford T bird. This is the smaller one I think known as a baby bird. Imported from America. 1956 I am sure.

This is the most special one. It's a 1920 Hupmobile, It's raced the Monte Carlo Rally I think 16 times. My step dad has traveled most of the world with it. I know he took it across America as well. This use to be an actual race car. I can't remember how but they found the granddaughter of the original owner. Both her and her husband have a 20,000 acre farm in New Zealand where they hold steam and classic car shows there. One of the most well known railways runs through and I cannot for the life of me remember what it's called. We spoke about hopefully doing it's last Monte Carlo in the next year or two maybe. It would be such a great experience for me. I'd love it!

View attachment 238785 I had a '71 Marina van as my 1st car, cost me £15. 1.3 A Series.. low compression version. Only one front wheel brake worked, and no handbrake. That's how you learn to drive, the youth of today got it easy, blah blah..
Strong and reliable though, I would get another.. if it was a similar price today!

Back in mid 80’s I was asked to upgrade a marina van from 1300 to 1800,all parts supplied,engine,box and axle,for stated price of .....£50,which I duly did,which seemed ok.

Sacrilege haha. This is a nightmare to start to be fair. It has some daft pull start on it. You have to bump it though. It's a 250 2 stroke.

It is so cute. I have a pic of my mum when she got it. It's really tiny but so nice to drive.

Have seen one with a v6 from an Omega, think there is a diesel swap knocking about somewhere too. The favourite is a rover v8 just needs new mounts made but drops straight in. Want to keep this as original as possible.

In terms of relative originality I'd have no difficulty putting a Rover V8 in, as they would definitely have been offered for sale with those fitted if the Rover works had been able to supply Reliant. Shortages for their own use meant they weren't willing to sell to an outsider.

I drove a Bugatti from 1924 it’s a straight 8 2.0 sounds like hell itself was lucky to do a few jobs on the car

every single panel has a dink or dent and it’s all original
